Daniel and Bethany kiss- with devastating consequences?

Daniel seeks misguided solace in the arms of Bethany Platt
With Sinead’s final days drawing closer, the Tinker’s have an early Christmas dinner, which ends in an explosive row between Daniel and his dying wife.

During the family meal, Daniel suggests they call it a night as Sinead needs to rest. Seeing red, Sinead insists that he should leave. When Daniel storms out, he finds misguided comfort in the form of Bethany Platt.

“It’s emotionally complex”, said Corrie boss Iain Macleod. “Is she in love with the fantasy of Daniel or is she in love with the real man? Does she even know the real man?”

With Bethany’s feelings for her friend still very much at the surface, Daniel leans in for a kiss which she reciprocates passionately.

Rob Mallard (Daniel Osbourne) said: “It’s like a ball of fishhooks now because of that cluster of events that all happen together; trying to just isolate one of them and deal with it means you end up pulling all of them up at the same time. He’ll have to untangle all those emotions.”

However, Daniel’s reality can’t be forgotten for long as Ken rounds the corner and witnesses Daniel’s betrayal.

“He has a, already what they’ve been foreshadowing, a self-destruct development. You’ll see that first because that’s the snap of the elastic, isn’t it,” Rob discussed.

With Daniel and Bethany now sharing a guilt, will Daniel reveal the devastating truth to Sinead? Or will he keep it firmly under wraps?

Tonight: Lucy Fallon on Through the Keyhole

Through the Keyhole is my guilty pleasure. I used to love watching it with Lloyd Grossman presenting it and I love it just as much with Keith Lemon doing the honours too. Yes, I'm nosy. I love looking inside celebrity houses.

Anyway, tonight on Through the Keyhole, Coronation Street's Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, will be on the panel alongside Rob Beckett and Alfie Boe.

The programme starts at 9.35pm tonight on ITV.

CORRIE PRESS DAY: Bethany’s attack! – Lucy Fallon Interview

Welcome to interview No. 4 of my visit to the Coronation Street set, and my day caught up in a flurry of exclusive summer storyline interviews.

Located just behind the new set extension (I think this was built at the same time), I hurried out of the TV studios ‘Corrie Hub’ for a final quick vape (breathing in ‘Weatherfield’ air, what a privilege) and headed back to the kitchenette for some water. Quenching my Corrie thirst for the final time on this amazing press day, in strolls the bright and breezy Lucy Fallon (Bethany Platt) to answer today’s closing set of interview questions.

As Kayla reaches a breaking point, will she seek revenge on Bethany Platt?

At what point does Bethany realise that Kayla might not be all she seems to be?
From the beginning the relationship hasn’t been great, she then starts to convince Craig that his OCD rituals don’t work, and Bethany starts to suspect.

Do you think Bethany is still dealing with all the emotional issues from the grooming storylines?
Yes, she is still dealing with that and we will always see those emotions come up in any storyline in future. When we spoke to survivors and victims, one thing they said was, it something that will stay with Bethany forever, and not something just disappears one day, she will always have that with her.

Would you like to see Bethany have a bit more happiness?
No, because I want to do challenging gritty storylines rather than the really happy ones. A bit sadistic maybe but that’s it.

Has Neil groomed his own daughter into believing he’s innocent or to attack Bethany and Craig?
He’s just forced Kyla to believe that he is a good person and that Bethany is the one that’s made it all up and she forced Craig to lie for her and cover it up, so yes in a way, he has groomed her.

Kayla does have a twisted streak though when she attacks Bethany?
Although Kayla attacks Bethany, it isn’t pre-meditated. Bethany goes to Kayla’s house looking for Craig and sees a picture there of Neil, so Kayla hits Bethany over the head, but nothing is pre-planned, it’s a panic reaction.

Could Bethany and Kayla actually become very close friends in the future?
I think after everything happens, when she gets hit over the head by her, Bethany starts to realise that Kayla is just as much a victim as she is. You’ll not see a friendship but Bethany wants to help her get help.

Do you see Bethany as a character that could continue on the street for a few more years?
Yes, I really love playing Bethany, I love the character. There are so many things you can do with the character. She’s just turned 18, so there are so many different things they can do with her now, and I really like playing her.

Interview over, I leave via the Studio back-gate with the journalist ensemble, heading towards media city tram stop. As the tram pulls away, I look across Manchester, and can still see cranes near the original and iconic Granada Studios set. I can’t help but wonder what press days were like back then...

Lucy Fallon interview: "Bethany's charged with GBH!"

What does Bethany leave her job at the salon?
She has a go at an older male customer who pays her a compliment, she asks him if he would have said that to her if she was a male hairdresser. Then she hears Audrey, David and Craig talking about her and she is furious.

What does she do about getting a new job?
She knows that Tassels has a new owner so she asks her friend Sam if she thinks she would be able to get an audition. She goes down to the bar and asks the new manager and he agrees to take her on.

Is she pleased to be back lap dancing?
Well the thing is the club has changed from what it was like and she notices the girls are wearing much skimpier outfits. The manager hands her one of the bikinis but she says she has brought her own clothes to wear. She still wants to call the shots but she gets the sense that it might not be like it was when Lulu was running it.

What happens when she starts dancing?
The new owner makes her go and dance for one specific table of men out on a stag night and they are very hands on trying to grab her and no one tells them to stop. When she worked for Lulu it was very much a no touching policy. The men are getting up very close and she starts to feel very panicky.

Why does she think she sees Nathan?
The stag in the group starts getting really close and in her face and she has a total panic attack and flashback to when she was with Nathan and his gang and all she can see in her head is Nathan.

How does she react?
It is pure instinct she grabs a bottle and smashes it on the table then glasses him with it. It is very quick, she doesn’t even have time to think about it, the next thing he’s bleeding everywhere and the police have been called.

What happens at the police station?
She is charged with GBH she is very upset and Sarah suggests that she needs to get some help and go back for more counselling but initially she is not sure and doesn’t think it can help her. She is at a real low at this point.

How do you think this whole experience has changed her?
WIthout a doubt it has changed her forever, and the lap dancing chapter has been another part of her journey. She was doing it because she felt like she was in control and now she knows that she wasn’t and that she put herself in more danger and is potentially going to have a criminal record.

How is this going to affect her relationship with Craig?
Well Craig blames himself and it starts to trigger his OCD, She notices he is behaving strangely but she doesn’t understand. Hopefully she can be there for him once she realises what he is going through.
