From The Mirror this week there was a story that Coronation Street has come under fire over blunders in its subtitles. Ofcom has received complaints about recent wrongly spelled and sloppy subtitling on the soap.
Recent mistakes, according to reports, have seen the famous Rovers Return called the 'Ravers Return', while Betty's hotpot was misspelled a 'bowel of hot pit'.
Businessman Dev Alahan was spelled 'Div', while when another character was talking about a woman named Nancy, it was replaced with 'Nazi'.
Meanwhile, during a scene when Tracy Barlow appeared to be talking quickly, the subtitling simply read: “Tracy yaps on about her hair.”
Ofcom had previously received complaints about the subtitles last year, and had pledged to crack down on mistakes.

"Blunders"?
Sounds more like sabotage.
I use the sub-titles and, though I haven't noticed those examples, the sub-titles vanish more often than they should.
Those don't seem like mistakes. They seem like deliberate insults and sarcastic commentary on the show. If I relied on subtitles I'd be very offended. Whoever is making these "mistakes" should consider a job change, since they obviously don't take this one seriously.
Here in Canada, we see pretty silly closed-captioning, 'rotor' for 'rota' for example.
I thought subtitles these days were voice-to-text for the most part which would explain some of the issues but "Tracy yaps on about her hair" isn't one of those!
"Tracy yaps on about her hair" was one of the greatest subtitles of all time. How can people possibly complain about that?
Plus, if I recall, it occurred during a scene where Tracy was simply talking in the background, while Rob was distracted by the police. Even those listening to the dialogue weren't really meant to concentrate on it.
