The stand out scenes from tonight's episodes, came suprisingly from Dev and Sunita, as the extent of their problems were revealed, we learned that the other shops weren't bringing in as much money as first thought, due to Frescho's opening smaller versions of their shop near Dev's, among other reasons.
This was quite believeable as it happens to many modern day shops, and in my opinion should have been written into the show sooner. It's not just Dev who is having troubles either, the Rovers and Streetcars are tight for cash and even Eileen and Fiz are feeling the pinch. I say it's about time the events on screen started representing the current state of the country.

Couldn't agree more! Anyone been watching The People's Supermarket over on Channel 4?
Hm, its a true to life story but of course is unbelievable acted by Dev and I use acting in the loosest terms. He owns the flat that Tina lives in, he downsized when he ridiculously moved from that lovely large character property to a 2 up 2 down in 'street and I cannot believe in the 21st century that someone who does own a lap top, renews his insurance, not on line or on direct debit like the rest of us but sends a cheque - dah! Its not credible at all I am afraid,
Totally unbelievable. 5000 is a drop in the bucket when it comes to rebuilding and restocking a shop. I doubt he could even restock the booze and fags for that let alone all the groceries. Surely with all his assets (7 shops, big house, posh flat, little house) the bank would lend him a mere 5000?
Dev and all the shop/home owners should be able to make a claim against the City or the tram company or sue Nick's insurance company (gas leak or whatever it was they found... can't remember ...what was it they found was responsible for the explosion/tram crash?). None of these people are responsible for the tram crash...
with it was Owen's faulty building practices... hahahaha
Maggie, I had a look at YT on People's Supermarket... rising cost of food is a problem here in Canada as well. Not a bad model to follow here -- coop model -- saves food wastage and money...
Dev's problems come from his own faults, he didn't insure the shop the £5000 would have made it possible to pay for the shop, and then he would have gone from there to earn his money back.
When are they going to find Colin's body..that's what I'm waiting for. With Owens shoddy rebuilding of the factory it's just a matter of time before someone goes through the floor and the jig will be up!!
