A Coronation Street extra has been given the sack after calling some of the cast 'rubbish' live on national radio.
The Manchester Evening News reports that Corrie background artiste Spencer May was given the boot after ringing in to the Jeremy Vine radio show just before he was due to play a victim in the Corrie tram crash in December last year. He was criticial of some of the show's cast but didn't name names.
Granada TV confirmed that the Spencer’s contract had been terminated by his agency. A spokesman said: "Mr May was in breach of contract. It is an unfortunate situation."
However, reading the article at the M.E.N. what really shocked this Corrie fan was the news that Corrie extras can earn up to £180 a day! £180! A day! Where do I sign up?

That was a bit stupid of him - DAH! He should at least have used a false name. I wonder which ones he meant, perhaps the Sun could offer him a few quid to spill!!
It always makes me laugh when anyone involved in television production talks about the low salaries they get paid! They ought to get into the real world (although I'll happily admit that rep doesn't pay well).
nice one!
The standard rate is £70 per day, for an 8 hour day. You'd only get £180 if you did a huge amount of overtime, and perhaps got a line to say.
What an idiot.
A friend of the family used to do a lot of extra work for Corrie in the 70s/80s. She's a musician from Liverpool and said a lot of performers do it. She thought is was kind of boring work and the fake beer in poured in Rovers tasted awful, but the people were lovely and it was cash when a starving artist needed it.
She can't believe that I'm watching Corrie in America. I can't believe she got to sit in the Rovers. *sigh*
I'm an extra on Corrie too. £180 a day?! I think not! You usually get about £75. You'd only get 180 if you had a talking role.
Well its hardly as if he's in any place to comment, is it now? All the cast performed exceptionally in the live episode, which is undoubtedly my favourite Corrie moment of past 12 months. Was he set to play the fourth victim considering his contract was terminated just before the crash?
what an idiot at least phone in with a different name
maybe he wanted to be caught?
£180 a day - in his dreams - I was married to the loser for 10 years and he earned nothing like that amount.
He's just a shameless self publicist who has finally got his comeuppance!
Serves him right
