Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 10th August

I said last week that I liked the Gary the Gangsta storyline and everyone in the comments....disagreed. I agree that he's not a classic baddie like Richard Hillman or John Stape, but I like the fact he was already an established character, and not just brought in (like Phelan) to be this year's Big Bad. I also like that he is conflicted about his role as Bad Guy, wanting to do good but being drawn time and time again to the dark side to cover his tracks. Also, lest we forget, when the Windasses were first introduced, they were the "most feared family in Weatherfield". Ok, they were softened up pretty quickly, but they were nasty pieces of work. Gary returning to that is an interesting choice.

Anyway, Bernie, who is the weak link in all of this, tells Adam that the watch had "To Rick From Laura" inscribed on it (I still don't understand why Sarah bought the watch?) and it was found in Beacon Woods. Slimfast Craig brings Sarah's handbag from last week's ambulance, including the watch, which Adam finds. Surely he's worked it out by now!!? He's the finest legal brain in Weatherfield (apart from Imran).

Talking of Imran, he and Toyah are forging ahead with the fostering. They make time though to hear Alya's thoughts on Speed Daal and Geoff. She wants to keep her distance (not just 1 metre) and says she wants to sell her share of the restaurant. Doesn't she want to keep it in the family for when Yasmeen gets out? She visits her gran in hospital and Yasmeen says she feels safer in there, away from Geoff and she doesn't want a new trial. Alya fills in Sally and her Aunty in law (?) suggests that she should buy Geoff out and she will give her the money that Geoff stole from Speed Daal and gave to Tim for the wedding.

In the comedy storyline, Steve can't get a sausage in the cafe, as the suppliers haven't delivered and Nina offers him a veggie breakfast instead. "I'm not one of those trendy hipster types!" yells Steve. A veggie breakfast is only £2.95, Stevie-boy; if Roy's really was a hipster place, it'd be £10.95, mate! Steve visits (the newly en-bearded) Dev's to try to get an all day breaky sarnie, but they've sold out. Does no-one have cornflakes at home for breakfast? Steve goes full Piers Morgan, saying that the vegan conspiracy won't beat him and he buys some sausys from Dev's and takes them to the cafe to cook them. Does he not have a grill at home?

In the other comedy storyline, a half-naked Chesney walks in on Gemma's vlog recording. Corrie, please stop trying to make sexy Chesney happen, it's not going to happen.

Oh and there was something about Kirk wearing his Buzzer the Bee costume for Gary's socially distanced stag do. In this heat!?
