Coronation Street Episode Review Friday 28 December 8.30pm
We’re back and Jenny has come to collect Johnny from the police station where he is out on bail. She tries to convince him to let her take the blame, but he won’t hear of it as he’s determined to ‘do right’ by his wife. This is all very noble obviously. Would it be very cruel to say that such grand gestures wouldn’t be necessary if he’d decided to do right by the lovely Jenny months ago by just buying a nice bunch of flowers and sewing his boxer shorts shut?
Toyah and Imran have decided to cheer Rana up by taking her to a gay bar. Which is a lovely thought apart from the fact that I thought Rana wasn’t gay, she was just in love with Kate? Anyway, they either they get the address wrong and end up in a church hall, or chose the least lively bar in Manchester, because there would seem to be more life in a tramp’s vest. Still, it’s livened up slightly by Kate’s ex Imogen turning up and being a bit pervy.
Back at the snooker hall Peter is showing Simon around in the dark, as you do (seriously just switch the lights on!). They find some rather creepy snooker cues in pentangles on the floor and ‘666’ scrawled on the wall in chalk. Peter is on the verge of being spooked when he treads on Kirk's nuts (sorry, I couldn’t resist) and realises he’s been played by Dev and Kirk. In the pub he dials up the guilt by telling them he’s pulled out of the deal and lost his deposit. Feeling pretty pleased with himself he manages to squeeze in a little flirtation with Carla. I just love the sexual tension between these two.
Gail tries to tell Audrey about Lewis’s afternoon assignation, but as she has no proof (having taken a selfie rather than a picture of Lewis) she can’t get Audrey to believe her. Audrey questions Lewis but he’s a very accomplished liar. He does however tell her she is essential to his future plans. So, either he is going to steal all her money and run off to East Africa or he can’t get through a mega bucket of popcorn and an afternoon of war films and DreamWorks animation on his own.
I’ve been Kelly and I can’t wait to find out which it is…see you back here in two weeks!
