I don't like the sound of this, not one bit. In this week's Inside Soap magazine, there's a great photoshoot with some of the Coronation Street cast - you can read all about that here.
On the page with the photoshoot of Liam Bairstow, who plays Alex Warner, there's a snippet of a spoiler of a teaser (OK, it's a teensy-weensy little bit of a spoiler) that I don't like the sound of at all.
Pat Phelan is going to be teaming up with Alex.
Liam says this: "I think Alex is going to carry on being quite naughty but he and Phelan will be making plans together. It's going to bring out more of Alex's vulnerable side. We've only seen his cheeky side so far, so I'm really looking forward to that."
Grrr... that Phelan! Is there no end to his coniving?! Let's hope not, he's great to watch!

I hope Roy doesn't lose his café due to Alex's 'friendship 'with Phelan.
It sounds like the writers are going to drag out the Phelan storyline longer than it needs to be.
I noticed the other day when Caz and Kate were in Roy's Rolls and I think it was Audrey was ordering a coffee. Alex was very snappy and rude with her. He appeared to be working on his own. He keeps that behaviour up and no one will eat there.
Speaking of rude I can't for life of me understand why the resident's of Coronation street buy flowers from Tracy? Surely there are other florists nearby. Todd would be nice enough but I wouldn't spend a nickle in Tracy's shop.
Wish Phelan would go away, I can't stand him. I fast forward all of his scenes.
Problem with Phelan is that he is duping characters who don't elicit a lot of sympathy. We felt for Gail, Audrey and Emily when Richard was playing mind games, similarly with Rita and Alan Bradley but Eileen isn't high on the sympathy scale. We're yet to see what happens with Alex.
Since Roy is probably aware of what Phelan did to Anna, perhaps he attempts to warn Cathy and Alex[who's desperate for friends]but as in the case when Anna warned Eileen, they don't believe him? Hence the lack of sympathy for them but plenty for Roy who's already been the victim of Alex's shenagians.
Humpty, I agree with you, I can't wait for Phelan to really do the dirty on Eileen, it will serve her right.
Predators go after the weakest members of the herd !
I like the character of Phelan as a baddie...he's sooo good at making us hate him. I like the dynamics of Todd vs Phelan, and while I'd like to see Eileen get shot down in love again I can't wait for Todd to mop the floor with him. As for Alex...ehhh,not warmed up to him yet.
