Where have you seen Alistair the tile man before?

If you're wondering where you've seen Alistair before on Coronation Street, then wonder no more.

Alistair is the fella who loaded the roof slates from No.3 onto a truck and promised Norris the new tiles will arrive shortly. But rather than pay Norris for the slates, he drives off, leaving Norris roofless.

Alistair is played by actor Nicholas Asbury, who is no stranger to Coronation Street. Back in 2011 he played the role of a vet called Mr Brodie.   He was the vet who treated Schmeichel when the Great Dane was diagnosed with liver disease in November 2011.

Seems I missed last night's episode! But this was OBVIOUS ... as soon as Alistair opened his mouth it was obvious he was going to do this. Only someone like Norris could be scammed like that and he's the last one I thought would be. :)

I thought Emily owned the house and Norris was the tenant. I don't watch every episode so did I miss something?

I can remember why, but Emily sold the house to Norris some years ago, possibly on condition that she could remain as his tenant. Perhaps she needed some cash to help out her nephew Spider?

I think we all knew Alistair was a conman from the off, but Norris the snob was taken in by the posh accent. Notice how he changed his own accent when dealing with the crook. It did occur to me that it could be a set-up by Phelan, then I thought "Surely not, they've already done that with Tracy sending a fake headhunter to poach Robert from the Bistro". It's bad enough that they recycle storylines, but it's an insult that they think we have such short memories.

I think Emily sold the place to Norris because she wanted to cut expenses and Norris was making out like owning a home was cheap... sort of the first version of what happened when David/Kylie bought out Gail.

Interesting that much like Michelle's folded arms, this character is photographed each time with a head tilt.

I never understood why both Emily and Rita had such a soft spot for that creepy bug of a gnome Norris. I seem to recall that Emily gave the house to Norris because she no longer wished the burden of home ownership---specifically house expenses and repairs. But in return, she stipulated that she be able to remain living in the house. Earlier, I think Rita also gave rather than sold him the Kabin.

I too think, or recall, Emily GAVE the house to Norris. I remember thinking her decision will now leave Spider and the deaf niece without any claim on her estate/home. She of course is entitled do whatever she likes but surely she has deep affection for, and would want to assist Spider in his future.
