Every time I see Coronation Street's Gail McIntyre on screen these days, I find myself feeling unnerved - she seems to be morphing into arch-villain Mrs Danvers (brilliantly played by Judith Anderson in Hitchcock's unbeatable film version of Daphne du Maurier's Rebecca). It's the shorter hair, the stern expression, the high necklines, the icy gleam in the eye. I'm loving it! What next for Gail?

I have to agree with you there. Gail has morphed into something, you've described her outward appearance accurately and it might as well be "Mrs.Danvers" ( I loved "Rebecca" too).
I wondered about Gail's TBA status when she asked if Audrey got Lewis from "a catalogue" for she'd like to order one; she had a gleam in the eye then, though not an "icy" one.
Hearing the up-coming storyline about Gail, who I've always considered to be very professional, discreet and proper, disclosing personal medical information, well to me it didn't ring true.
Even though she told her son, I have to ask, so what?
Look at Tina, look at Sarah. Everyone knows no secret is safe on "the street", but the disclosure will definitely accelerate the plot.
The high neck sweaters, I thought might be disguising "work done" but perhaps I was wrong about that.
I must be one of the few that ever did like "Gail", we go back a long way...
Gail's usually always worn fairly prim clothes, including turtlenecks even when she was younger and had all that long hair. But if she starts carrying a rosary, i'm heading for the exorcist. The channeling of Ivy Tilsley will be complete!
Nah Mrs Danvers has nice tidy hair, done in a style of the age. Gail's looks like someone has put a pudding basin around it and chopped, a style neither flattering nor fashionable, her mother a hairdresser as well!!
Gail looks like a turtle!! But I love her character and the street would not be the same without her. Where did she get off spoiling her mum's birthday party though? There is a time and a place for things!
I've actually always liked Gail's hair.. I think because it's very thick and healthy looking. She can't help looking like a turtle/chipmunk ;)
Rebecca in TO
Gail's always had such enviable body to her hair, I think she might have tried a too short 'bob' and it makes her head look too rounded thus the 'turtle' look ( and the tight- to- the- neck tops don't help much either).
Her hair also looks darker than it did.
Hope she's not going to be all miserable in upcoming story lines!
