Corrie hunks Star on Stage in Dark Thriller

Jack Ellis, who played Harry Mason in Coronation Street...

... and Oliver Mellor, who played Dr Matt Carter...

...are both starring on stage together in Eastbourne.

The actors are starring in a thriller called Wait Until Dark which is set amidst the social turbulence of 60’s London. The play follows the story of Suzy, a blind woman who left alone in her apartment becomes embroiled with a group of conmen hatching an elaborate scam. As the tension notches up, Suzy is left to fend for herself but with the phone line cut dead and the house plunged into darkness, can Suzy outwit the murderous visitors?

Wait Until Dark, made into a film starring Audrey Hepburn in 1967, is often ranked as one of the top 100 scariest films of all time and this exciting new production reclaims it for the stage.

The best Corrie characters we've never seen

With Harry the bookie making reference to his third ex-wife Francesca, she sounds a force to be reckoned with. And it's got me wondering if we'll ever see her on screen, and indeed if we ever should.

She could go down in history as one of the best Coronation Street characters that we've never seen, along with the wonderful Yana Lumb's very own fella, Big H, and the often referred to but never seen taxi controller, Fat Brenda from Levenshulme.
