Becky's sister - and nephew - joining Corrie

The official Coronation Street site has revealed that not only will Becky McDonald's sister join the soap but the character, in her teens, will have a three-year-old son.

Corrie producers are currently looking for an actress to play Becky's sister and the site says they haven't ruled out seeing Grace, the younger sister of actress Katherine Kelly, who plays Becky, for the part.

The character has yet be named and ITV promises she'll be no shrinking violet.

Katherine Kelly told Whats on TV at last night's British Soap Awards, that her real-life sister, Grace, may be joining Coronation Street as Becky's on-screen sister. How weird but fun does that sound?

Katherine said about Becky McDonald: "It's very exciting, she's going to get a sister, which is an exclusive. Very, very soon a half-sister is going to come into her life. They are interested in my sister (Grace). She is the prefect age and she's a cracking actress and she is my sister, so she looks just like me. But she's in LA at drama school, so... I don't know if it will work."

Katherine Kelly's sister in Doctors

Katherine Kelly's younger sister Grace Kelly joined the cast of BBC1 drama, Doctors for the episode shown on May 18th.
