Audrey broke out the pink pantsuit so she could hoover the house thoroughly ahead of a visit from the mayor of Weatherfield's twin town. Played by Valery Picot, who you'll remember from any television programme that ever needed a Frenchman ever, he was intrigued by Alf's "two mayoresses" set up. He somehow got it in his head that the Rovers was a house of ill repute and invited Raquel out to a function. Vicky continued to interfere in Steve's business, encouraging him to change its name to Dun 2 A T - which may be the worst company name I have heard in my entire life - and being doubtful about his deal with a club owner played by Kirk St Moritz from Dear John. Deirdre was tested about donating a kidney to Tracy, but Samir was shocked to learn it would mean she'd never be able to have children. Not sure how Tracy managed to have Amy with one kidney in that case. And Denise and Jon went out for a picnic, and he tried it on; she backed off, and was then left with the awkwardness of having to work with him.
TUESDAY - Episodes originally broadcast 21st and 24th April 1995
There was bad news for Deirdre when she learned that she wasn't a compatible kidney match with Tracy. She was secretly relieved, and decided to try tracking down Ray Langton. The cheque from the club promoters bounced as they'd gone bust, and an irate Vicky lead them to hammer on the door to try and get their cash. This meant Fiona found out she was an investor which made her think Vicky was doing it just because she fancied Steve. Meanwhile Vicky was handing over some more money for the business. Ken tried to talk to Denise about access, but when she asked for details he got all angsty. She implied that he was only kicking off because he wanted to prove he was in charge, and had no interest in Daniel at all. The subsequent twenty years have demonstrated she was absolutely correct. And the French mayor tried it on with Raquel, because he thought she was a prostitute, mainly because she'd revealed she was a model who was really good at "hand jobs". Yes, even in 1995, "horny Frenchman is horny and thinks everyone is shagging" was still a valid stereotype.
WEDNESDAY - Episodes originally broadcast 26th and 28th April 1995
Steve went chasing after Kirk St Moritz and found him with a flash car and a nice house... which were all in his wife's name, so Steve couldn't touch it. It meant he had to deal with Vicky even more, angering Fiona, so she packed her bags. He persuaded her to stay by implying Vicky was hectoring him about her lost money. Ken volunteered to be tested for Tracy's missing kidney, but he was the wrong blood type, so Samir said he'd see if he was compatible. A vulture flapped its wings overhead. Jack and Vera were planning a trip to Mold with Tommy for a holiday, though she wouldn't let him gift the little boy a baby pigeon because of the vermin. Jack decided to let Jamie look after the birds for him while they were away. Denise got a letter from Ken's solicitor and panicked and fled the Street, leaving Fiona to look after it alone.
THURSDAY - Episodes originally broadcast 1st and 3rd May 1995
Tracy came out of the hospital and moved into the poky flat with Deirdre and Samir. It was all a bit much for the three of them, and Tracy was in a permanent nark, so Deirdre arranged for them to move in with Liz and Jim. Samir was annoyed that she didn't consult with him, but he was probably just worried because the tests came back positive: he was a match so he could donate his kidney. At the end of the Street, a figure in a black cloak pointed a single bony figure at him and laughed. Martin passed his exams, though Gail's congratulations were somewhat muted. Don suggested taking her away on holiday. Maybe you shouldn't take marriage advice from Don Brennan, Martin. Vicky enrolled for a business studies course, which made her think she was Karren Brady and could pass on advice to Fiona about how to run the salon on her own. Fiona told her to stuff it, and called in assistance from a friend - Maxine Heavey. She made an immediate impression, larking about and flirting with Des. You should've stayed at the party Maxine! Vicky soon came back to haunt Fiona though when she agreed to invest further in the business if she was responsible for all the finances. Steve agreed, leaving Fiona feeling left out.
