Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 08 Jan 2020 7.30 pm

Things are now really beginning to fall flat for Fiz in what can only be described as a nightmare week for the mum. All Hope (& Ruby) has been lost with 'the girls' staying at Kev's, Jade's nefarious plan is now truly in motion. Although, with Jade still feigning innocence, how long before her mask also falls? Announcing she's leaving the fold, Ty and Fiz seek legal advice while Jade sneakily lets the girls slip out of Kevin's backyard and swiftly disappears.

Ruby and Hope head over to see their mum, but not before social services (un)conveniently arrive to take them away.

Seeking respite from the Freshco four, Chesney is looking forward to going back to work but not before they have the quads' photo shoot. He lies to Dev so he can be involved, claiming Gemma is poorly. Leanne and Steve are also squabbling over childcare as Tracy's kitten needs chipping - so he can't look after Oliver! Leanne pours scorn on Tracy in idle gossip to Paula, and the lawyer defends her former bedroom partner. Later, at the solicitors, Leanne 'accidentally' overhears Paula and Tracy discussing their secret tryst.  Surely the cat is now out of the bag? Whilst on the subject, is Tracy's 'kitten' some kind of saucy double-entendre seaside postcard metaphor - or is it just me?

Another secret is also revealed when Fiz and Ty are informed that Hope has a half-sister that could look after them. Jade's mask finally slips. Would it have been better if we only found about Jade, like tonight, rather than several weeks ago?

News spreads of Shona's lucid coma - will she wake-up? David decides to record the sounds of Roy's baps and steamy fry-ups to try and stir her senses. Maybe he could waft some bacon in her room, it used to work for me but I guess a coma is a bit different to a massive hangover!

I've enjoyed seeing David and Nick as pals again, rather than enemies, How long will that last? Its as though that £80K theft/ jail time never happened?!

Covering Shona's cafe shifts, Aggie worries and tells James that she wishes she could have done more to save Robert. James gets on his phone, and soon enough the Weatherfield Gazette is keen on the story, and a possible award.

At the photoshoot, Gemma and Chesney are relieved of the quads and are left alone in the showhome's immaculate green room aka bedroom. Rather than imagining Chesney and Gemma procreating again, I'm glad to see them drop off into well-deserved sleep. Abruptly awoken, Chesney realises he's slept in and is late for work!

Don't be late like Chesney, keep an eye on this blog for my next episode review which publishes in a bit!

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 28 Aug 8.30pm

Jed wants blackmail money and about five grand (to be precise). Robert now needs Michelle out of the way, and as it's her last day at the bistro before her new job, the ever self-absorbed Michelle is easy to distract. With Michelle off site, Robert gets the stolen ring back, but only after paying off Jed with two grand from the Bistro safe. It's not enough though. Jed wants Robert to persuade Tyler to return with him to Ireland, or he will tell Michelle all about his double life.

Seb, spruced up in a jazzy Hawaiian tee shirt, (who needs a haircut eh?) meets Alina at the house for their date. Admitting she's heading back to Romania, he struggles to hide his heartache at Alina's sudden decision. Professing her hatred of Jan, our Corrie Cassanova gets wound-up and tries to defend his fellow man (those long-haired guys stick together) but with little result. Admitting he knows the truth about Jan and Eileen to Alina, it does little to change her mind and still leaves for Romania anyway. Is this the end of the human trafficking crime story?

Still suspicious of Gary's latest venture, Adam sniffs around the lock-up looking for evidence. Struggling to find anything suspect amongst the tatty furniture,  Adam decides to begin his own investigation into Gary and Derek's dealings and hires a private detective.

Meanwhile, Tyrone is stressed about Hope's schooling and Evelyn suggests he should speak to Brian or at least try to sort his mess out. Dropping by at The Kabin ( I forget he owned that), Brian suggests they apply for a place at Bessie Street and lodge an appeal in the meantime.
Failing at the first hurdle, Brian has no luck, but Evelyn tells Tyrone that she has a plan!

Now he's down by two grand, Robert tells Craig that he's found the ring, and his Macclesfield cop shop pals can cancel the crime (I'm not sure that's how it works).

Returning from her day off, Michelle immediately notices that the safe is empty.. of just over two grand (to be precise).  Questioning Robert, Michelle thinks he's gambling again (close, but no cigar), yet Robert manages to worm his way out of it, by giving her the original ring he managed to get back from Jed. Confused? I know I am!. That's cost him 4 grand in one day and I'm unsure as to how that backstreet bistro is still open. Unfortunately, Robert's day is about to get worse, as Craig tells Michelle all about this stolen/misplaced ring saga, and drops him right in it!

This ring plot is running rings around my corrie centric mind! More Vicky, and less ring drama, please!

Ignoring Alya's advice, Yasmeen talks to Geoff about his 'illness' and she asks him to move back to her house. Later, she checks her bank balance and looks slightly puzzled. Has Geoff installed spyware on her laptop and pilfered her bank account? (sorry its all this crime business, even I'm getting suspicious now). I wouldn't be asking PC Tinker to investigate though, he says he always 'forgets stuff' at work. On that basis, he should be head of Weatherfield police by the end of the year!

Out on the street, Eileen and Seb discuss their flirtations in European romance, and the end of this dramatic human trafficking saga. But hold on, who's that sat outside their house in a car? it's only nail bar owner/human trafficker, Rachel.

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 21 Aug 8.30pm

Emma is understandably shocked and whacks Steve with a wreath before storming away from the church.

Out of hospital, Craig heads over to see Bethany and tells her that Mr Lambardi has been arrested for his involvement in Nathan's underage parties. Feeling the guilt, Daniel has published a positive front-page spread about Craig, for the Weatherfield Gazette.

Nick finds Max in Victoria gardens and the youngster smashes a plant pot in front of him, blaming his 'Uncle' for David's imprisonment. Shona shuts Roy's Rolls and heads out to find her surrogate son.

Back from the funeral, Emma opens her laptop and confronts her Mum with some home truths.  Emma's grief is palpable and she's reeling from the shock of  her identity being torn apart. In retaliation, Emma tells her Mum that she's doing fine; working in the salon and living above it in Audrey's flat. Only then does Fiona realise that she needs to visit Emma and quick!

Is Fiona seeing Emma make the same mistakes she once did?

Meanwhile, Geoff visits Dr Gaddas to discuss some mysterious ailments. Explaining his 'palpitations' to Yasmeen, she asks him to move back in with him.

At the builder's yard, Ed admits to Michael that his money troubles stem from online gambling, and he breaks down in guilt and remorse. At home, Ed admits to Aggie that his gambling bug is back, and in fact, it wasn't Michael who lost them their previous home - it was him!. Admitting remorse and shame, Ed confronts his family and Aggie is quick to dash out of the door- upset and reeling in anguish.

Arriving back on the street, Steve admits to Liz that he knows the test results, and he's told Emma. Liz tells him he best relay this news to Tracy before someone else does!

Telling Tracy that Emma's Mum is Fiona Middleton, Tracy is quick is realise just what he's been struggling to say. Attacked again with flowers, Steve shifts swiftly out of the florists, only to be met with Amy and Liz, and Amy soon finds out she has a half-sister!

Heading to the salon flat to visit Emma, Audrey reluctantly admits that she knew all about Fiona and Steve. Emma can't believe the deceit and asks her to leave.

When Steve struggles to reconcile with Emma, Tracy adds salt to his wounds and throws him out of their flat.

At least he's avoided another beating by flowers!

Coronation Street Episode Review; Weds 21 Aug 7.30pm

A day of mourning looms for Emma, as her father's funeral begins. Paradoxically, Steve realises (today of all days) that the DNA test results are due, meaning Emma could lose and gain a father - all in one day?

Distracted by the arrival Emma's brother, Morgan (who Steve nearly adopted with Fiona, keep up), Liz tells Steve to ignore the test results until tomorrow. Ominous. Meanwhile, Tracy has misplaced the wreath, which is on its way to Northwich!
Mary rescues the wreath and Steve is keen to get it to the service on time, but he gets an email - revealing the test results.

Forgiving Ed for his financial difficulties, Aggie vengefully blames Michael for their previous money woe's, but she's hopeful that things will soon to be back on track. However, finding some positive pregnancy tests in the house, Michael is confronted by his parents who assume the worse, only for him to admits to his pregnancy profiteering plan with Bernie. It's soon clear that Michael is the reason that the Bailey's moved onto Coronation Street in the first place (they've moved from a huge house, keep up).  Aggie decides to kick Michael out as she's had enough of his plotting and money-making schemes.

Over a pint, Ed and Michael discuss the families money worries. Admitting he needs £5K, Ed asks footballer James to lend him it, and Michael tells Bernie that their scheme is over.

At Roy's, Yasmeen has trouble accessing her online bank account, and Geoff promises to help her access it. Meanwhile, Max is playing up, and Bethany struggles to forgive Daniel for Craig's accident.

Outside the Church, Morgan shows Emma a skype message that Fiona has left for her. Begging for her daughter's forgiveness, she promises to ignore the time difference, so that she can speak to her after the funeral. In all the emotion, Morgan admits that he knows Emma's Dad wasn't actually her real father, biologically.

Emma is emotionally shattered following this latest revelation.

Arriving with the wreath, Steve is quick to console Emma who falls into his arms, and the two have a heart-to-heart. Struggling to contain his secret, Steve admits to Emma that HE is actually her father.

How will Emma react to the news?

It looks like she's literally lost a father, and gained one, all in one day.
