Every year, I give out my Coronation Street Blog awards in my made-up categories. Part Smash Hits Poll Winner Party, part Inside Soap Awards, part whatever I can think of off the top of my head. Without further ado...
Best Actor (male): Gareth Pierce (Todd Grimshaw). What a year poor Toddicles has had. His aunty died, his brother returned, his mum left, he lost his job, he got a new fella....who turned out to be Geoff, Charlie and Kirsty rolled into one. Gareth has played a blinder with every flinch, every anxiety, every fear playing across his face as he deals with the abusive Theo.
Best Actor (female): Vicky Myers (Lisa Swain).
Runner up: Tanisha Gorey (Asha Alahan).
Best Couple; Swarla. OK, they're broken up at the moment due to the machinations of batty Becky, but they'll be back together and having the power lesbian wedding of our dreams in the new year, won't they? But will Carla change her surname to Swain??
Runner up: Steve and Cassie. He likes a bit o'rough.
Best Villain: No contest here as Terrible Theo has terrorised the street since his introduction as an in-the-closet scaffolder.
Runner up: Carl. The poundshop version of the above.
Best return: Eva.
Runner up: Julie.
Worst return: Becky.
Best Young Actor: Billie Nailor (Ruby Dobbs), the best of the recent under-16s re-casts.
Best Old Actor: David Neilson (Roy Cropper).
Best Guest Star: It was nice to see Rebecca Atkinson (Karen off of Shameless) turn up as a prison warden back in January.
Best new Character: Maggie. Given that Dame Maureen is in absentia a lot of the time, it's good to have a new battle-axe on the cobbles.
Best barmaid: Glenda.
Runner up: Lauren. She's been taking lessons from Leanne on service with a sneer.
Best Issue: Debbie does dementia.
RIP Award: Mason.
Runners up: Craig, Julie.
Gone But Not Forgotten Award: Gail, Eileen, Jenny Bradley, Aadi, Max, Bobby.
Gone But Forgotten Award: The Michaelises. I still don't see the point of the couple and/or storyline. If it was solely for Tim and Sally to adopt a new version of The Girls, it worked, I suppose but I think it'd have been better if Mick and Lou had been the new Battersby/Windasses, softened after a few rounds of darts in the Rover and several "Now Look Here, Lady"s from Rita.

Runner up: Kit.
Best Storyline: Daisy's departure.
Worst Storyline: Harvey Gaskell going after the Platts.
Runner up: Rob kidnaps Carla, again. That woman is more kidnapped than the Lindbergh baby. I was surprised that Becky didn't kidnap la Connor just so that Carla didn't get out of practice.
Best scene: Kev, Kirk, Ty, Steve, and Tim in the pub shooting the breeze and putting the world to rights.
Runner Up: The Hallowe'en party in the Rovers.
