Roy is back on the grill and has rearranged all of his utensils. All is well in Roy's Rolls until he pops out to take Shona some carrot soup and is surrounded by a group of schoolkids, celebrating finishing their GCSEs by bullying a pensioner. Shona zooms round to check that Roy is OK but is forced into 'fessing up that she was never ill and also that Nina and Evelyn were involved and he chucks everyone out. Considering a couple of weeks ago he was never going to speak to Carla ever again, I think he'll forgive 'em. Unfortunately, this means no-one is with him when he collapses with a heart attack, although he does manage to call an ambulance before he collapses. He has an emergency coronary bypass at Kate Oates Memorial and Evelyn and Nina share a sweet moment and a hug when they find out the operation has gone well. Meanwhile, a mystery figure in a big coat sneaks in to visit Roy. Lifting her hood, it's revealed to be.....Lauren! I was right about her being alive, but not about her being chained to a radiator at Joel's house.
If the ovarian cancer storyline is to raise awareness, it's not doing a good job. Symptoms aren't stabbing pains in the stomach; it's bloating, abdominal discomfort, abnormal bleeding, and acid reflux. Plus the Dr would do an internal exam and ask nosy questions about your previous history. If the point is to put Toyah through it, then it's certainly worked. Some time ago, the writers/directors/producer discovered that Jane Danson could cry on demand and gave her some harrowing storylines, and now it's Georgia Taylor's turn. I wonder if this is supposed to be soap karma for Toyah since she got away with killing Imran, just as Carla evaded punishment for the corporate manslaughter of Wicki's friend and knocking down St Stella of the Backroom whilst drunk, but then lots of awful things happened to her.
Anyway, Leanne says she'll spend the day with Toyah, but as a level 6, she has to attend a mandatory hazing induction of new Institute recruits. Toyah accompanies her and they bump into Amy. Toyah admits that the CBT techniques of the Institute may work, but she tells Nick that she's trying to get an in so that she can get more information.
Maria rocks up to the cop shop to find out details about Mason's incipient release and bumps into Sarah and Gary, who are there to confirm Gary's payment of £10K to Sarah. Maria, not unreasonably, kicks off when she finds out what has been going on (helped by David's meddling). Bethany's also been busy, getting hold of CCTV footage of the person who has been using her credit card - it's a mysterious hooded figure....
And finally, Betsy asks Carla for a summer job and she says no.

I too thought Lauren was still alive. But what happens now? She should just go to the police and tell them all about Joel. But this is a soap so she'll probably stay in hiding. Bethany's credit card has been stopped so she has no means of income though.
Are any teenagers as rude as Betsy? Demanding a job based on one day's work. Twice! Also barging into Carla's office, interrupting phone calls. Did her mothers teach her nothing?
A bit ott having Nina, Evelyn, Carla, Dee Dee then Joel all at the hospital for Saint Roy.
