Inside Soap magazine vacancy for Junior Writer/ Editorial Assistant
Anyone who's a regular reader of our Coronation Street Blog will know that we highly rate Inside Soap magazine. It's the only magazine I buy regularly, and I mean every single week and I have done since starting this blog. And it's the only soaps magazine worth its salt, they know what they're doing, they're funny and spot on with their analyses and having met the lovely editor Steven once or twice, I know they're a good bunch behind the scenes too.
The magazine currently have a job vacancy for a Junior Writer/ Editorial Assistant, working in that London. Up for the challenge? Love your soaps? Here are the details...
Inside Soap has been Britain’s number one soap magazine for 25 years. Its weekly mix of dramatic spoilers, star interviews and witty commentary make it the soap bible for TV viewers. The dedicated, busy team meet a weekly print deadline, as well as producing web and social media content.
The Role
Reporting to the Features Editor, you will be part of the writing team, as well as ensuring the smooth running of the wider office.
Feature writing
• Carrying out interviews and writing up copy, as well as compiling other news and comment features
• Maintaining knowledge of the storylines and characters of the major soaps
• Liaising with press offices and building a strong working relationship
• Assisting others on the features desk with research, transcribing and any other ad hoc tasks
Office management
• Being the first port of call for readers, dealing with enquiries and complaints
• Processing winners’ payments and prizes, as well as freelance staff payments
• Ordering stationery, booking travel and other admin tasks for the wider office
• Anticipating office needs and preparing appropriately
The Person
• A great knowledge of and passion for soaps
• Qualifications in journalism or another relevant subject
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• A unflappable multitasker who can jump from job to job at a moment’s notice
• Great communication skills
