Jennie has spent time researching the cancer storyline with Royal Manchester Children's Hospital oncology and haematology ward.
The twin girls - Faith and Nicola Holt - who play Hope know it's not real, says Jennie. "We don't want to put them in scenes that are too harrowing: that's where we'll never truly reflect what happens in real life and it wouldn't be very responsible of us to try to do that. So we're just showing a snapshot. But the girls are doing brilliantly and they know we're just pretending."
TV Times says that next week there's good news as Fiz and Tyrone are told there's a 80% chance that Hope will survive her childhood cancer. And the interview goes on to say that the writers have already decided that Hope will make a full recovery.
Jennie says: "The doctors that I spoke to said 'Please show that these things can have positive outcomes, because they can'. I think it'd be a bit too much for the audience if she didn't get better and it's right for this storyline."

I usually don't like major spoilers, but will make an exception for this one. There's been too much loss on the Street this year and we are due for a bit of happiness.
Can't get over how much Hope/the twins look like John Stape.

I never had any doubt that she'd survive. They rarely have a child die and having a child die of cancer would be too difficult for viewers. They have had at least two infants die that I can recall, Zoe's baby from meningitis and Alison and Kevin's. I don't think they've ever had a child on screen die. (Irma Ogden Barlow's husband and child died in a car accident in Australia, they were out of the show for some time before that)
So pleased that this cancer story line has a positive outcome, reflecting how treatments and prognoses have improved tremendously over the past few years.
Thank goodness. I saw a supposed spoiler from one newspaper which had Hope dying in the Christmas episode. It would have been one sad storyline too many for me.
Oh. I'm glad Hope lives - but it would have been nice if you treated that as a spoiler and didn't give it away if we didn't wish to look at it. It was rather unavoidable to see.
If you do't like spoilers and inside information, this may not be the fan blog for you. Most comments here seem to indicate an interest in discussing everything Corrie - past, present and future. In this case, the info also came from a publicly accessible document. Sure, the standard "Spoiler Alert" warning could have been applied to this post but it is just the nature of the blog (and what most of us love about it).
How could you not consider 'storyline ending' as a spoiler? Read the headline first and if you looked past that, then it is no one fault?
I am glad that Hope will lives, because I cannot stand Fiz being horrible to Tyrone if she dies.
We have long had a policy on this blog that includes revealing spoilers. As someone above has said, if you don't want to know, this may not be the place for you. We do keep a sister blog that follows the Canadian timeline, about 2 to 3 weeks behind the UK timeline, that is spoiler free. It's the Bluenose Corrie Blog.
I do empathise with those who don't like spoilers... you may want to read the Blog from behind the sofa :-)
With the TV Times story above, as it had a picture of a smiling Fiz and Hope on the front cover and the words 'good news at last for Fiz' I didn't think of this as a spoiler as such as it's clear from the image and headline of the magazine what is going to happen and it's an interview that ITV had sanctioned so we weren't giving any secrets away.
Because the whole photo - not just headline - appeared when I came to the site. Anyway, it was just a suggestion.
