If you remember, last year I had a series of posts looking at the top 12 faces of each Corrie decade - the 1960s, the 1970s, the 1980s, the 1990s and the 2000s. For the next few weeks or so, I’ll be looking at the top 12 faces of each year between 1960 and 2013.
With thanks to Corriepedia for the information.
In 1989, 115 episodes were broadcast.
1. Jack Duckworth (90 episodes)
2. Sally Webster (89 episodes)
3. Audrey Roberts (88 episodes)
4. Vera Duckworth (87 episodes)
5. Alf Roberts (85 episodes)
6. Rita Fairclough (84 episodes)
7. Martin Platt (78 episodes)
8. Bet Gilroy (77 episodes)
9. Betty Turpin (77 episodes)
10. Ivy Brennan (75 episodes)
11. Tina Fowler (75 episodes)
12. Jenny Bradley (74 episodes)
Due to lack of space, Gail Tilsley and Kevin Webster fail to make the top 12, but they also appeared in 74 episodes.
Average age: 44
Note: To date, this is the only time Tina and Jenny appear in the top 12.

1989 has higher female ratio. 10 female made to the top 12.
Interesting that Sally Webster was in 15 more episodes than Kevin:) Was it a particular Sally-centric storyline that year?
Maybe because Sally was working in Rovers?
Sally only worked at the Rovers very briefly. In those days she worked at the Corner Shop, which was used a lot more for filming than it is now.
It all raises an intriguing question about why certain characters appear more than others in a given year... is it popularity, availability, exploitation? Did those characters choose to give more time than others? Were they drafted into storylines? Or were they given more time because they were perceived as rising stars?
