Fans vote Emily as fave pillar of the community

Coronation Street Blog readers have voted for Emily Bishop as their favourite pillar of the community. 361 of you voted and 100 (27.7%) voted for Emily, who's been involved in the community for over 50 years.
 
In second place came Rita Tanner with 61 votes (16.9%). She's been at the heart of the community in the Kabin since 1973. Alf Roberts came third with 47 votes (13.02%). He served the community in two different ways: behind the counter at the Corner Shop and as a councillor and mayor.

Hayley Cropper came fourth with 42 votes (11.63%) while hubby Roy came fifth with 31 votes (8.59%). Long-standing resident Ken Barlow came sixth with 15 votes (4.16%). Rovers landlady and once-mayoress Annie Walker came seventh with 12 votes (3.32%) with moral guardian Ena Sharples close behind with 11 votes (3.05%).

Busybody Norris Cole came ninth with 9 votes (2.49%), Fred Elliott came tenth with 4 votes (1.11%) while both Percy Sugden and Sylvia Goodwin received 2 votes (0.55%).

The following all received 1 vote (0.28%): Albert Tatlock, Len Fairclough, Liam Connor, Tracy Barlow, Rob Donovan, Charlie Stubbs, Owen Armstrong, Shelley Unwin, Sean Tully, Deirdre Barlow, Liz McDonald, Dev Alahan, Michelle Connor, Sally Webster, Audrey Roberts, Gail McIntyre, Gloria Price, Anna Windass, Steve McDonald, Ashley Peacock, Claire Peacock, Eileen Grimshaw, Nick Tilsley, Sunita Alahan and Stella Price.

Florrie Lindley, Leonard Swindley, Maggie Clegg and Renee Bradshaw sadly didn't receive any votes.

I would just like to say how much I enjoy watching corrie and right back way back when and remember it been in B/W I watched it with my mam & dad when it first started now my kids watch it with me lol I just think its part of our life's 😀 so al be watching it till I take my last breath I think so carrie on the great work you all do and all the best to all 😘 Alan Taylor & family x

Ditto Mr. Taylor! Been watching my whole life too. Emily Bishop as 'fave pillar of the community'is terrific. Love when she stages a civil action. Remember Emily up a tree on the RedRec, shocking her nephew Spider? Bless her, she's still going!
