Natalie Gumede, who plays Coronation Street's crazy Kirsty Soames, has given a good interview to Digital Spy.
Natalie talks about Kirsty's upcoming pregnancy storyline where she says the baby is definitely Tyrone's. She also discusses working with Alan Halsall and Michelle Keegan, who play Tyrone and Tina and says that working with Barbara Knox who plays Rita was like "being inaugurated by the Queen."
Now then, my psycho-soap-jury is still out on Kirsty. As I wrote here earlier, I feel a little sorry for her although other bloggers reckon she's a bunny boiler in the making.
There's clearly something in Kirsty's past, which Natalie alludes to in the interview, that is making her such a peculiar and nasty force to be reckoned with. I wonder what it could be?

Whatever Kirsty is, Natalie is doing a great job playing her!
I agree. I do like Kirsty, she's an interesting character.
Stretching it a bit somewhat that a lowly Constable would have such clout to get colleagues to target members of the public, but anyone who gets up Tina's nostrils is OK by me!!
I'm hoping she is a true psycho and leaves Corrie - she doesn't fit with Tyrone at all. Hard to believe she could get so many colleagues to do her bidding in this way. Why was Rita sobbing over the loss of her driver's licence - no mention was every made of her even having a car before this and anywhere she went with Emily, Noris and Mary was always by taxi - a bit far fetched.
They did show Rita 'earlier' taking Deirdre with her to check the soup kitchens in search of Dennis...
I can't wait for this story to develop, I just hope they over do it like they did to John Stape. Agree with Tvor, Natalie is a great actress!
I definitely agree ChiaGwen. I found Rita's sobbing very surprising. When Mavis was around it was implied Rita had a car because she would often be at th'olesalers. Because these trips finished, Rita went on a cruise for months and seemed to be Streecars' best customer, I assumed her car had been sold.
And who is this new Rita, bursting into tears at the drop of a hat? Is this the same Rita who just picked herself up and dusted herself down after being kicked in the teeth by some "fella"? Is this the Rita who worked the Northern Working Mens' Clubs? Or is it some imposter who has blubbed more in the last 3 years than real Rita did in the previous 30.
Perhaps Rita's reached her limit, too many close encounters with trams - she's probably still sufferring from the shock, poor luv. I do enjoy that Kirsty irks Tina so, as she's become a complete cow. Since most folk get into law enforcement because of a traumatic past experience or some need not being met when they were a child (hence, their desire to keep order and help others who are vulnerable) I'm going to guess we'll find out something interesting about Kirsty's past.
