Uncle Umed is leaving Coronation Street to head back to India, says Soap Queen Sharon Marshall on ITV's This Morning today. So, will anyone miss him?
I have mixed thoughts about Umed. I found him terribly irritating for a very long time but he endeared himself when he started chatting up Audrey Roberts and I'd have liked to have seen this friendship develop. Then he went back to being annoying but has redeemed himself somewhat in a comedy vein with Dev and the doorbell, which I thought was quite fun. Will you miss Uncle Umed or are you glad to see him go?

I will be sorry to see Umed go, he brings a bit of light relief to the corner shop. I wish he would take "Dave" with him.
I don't know. I thought he was a bit repugnant when he was chatting up the women, actually, but once he settled into a comedy routine, not just the doorbell which was quite funny, but all his stories about all the things he did or people he knew in India, clearly just bulls###, that amused me too. But over all i probably won't miss him. He's a bit of a spare part really.
Eh. I liked him to begin with, but then he just got useless and annoying.
So I won't miss him.
I'll miss him. He was a funny side character who could have had a more robust subplot if the writers gave this character a chance. There are a lot of minor characters who serve as breathing space between heavier scenes - his always upbeat manner, his ridiculous stories/lies, and his cynical wisdom couched in funny banter shall be missed. Now who's left at Dev's grocery store for Dev to get angry with?
I won't miss him but that's really because the writers didn't develop him. He could have been an interesting character, but wasn't given any good story lines.
Maybe Dev will hire Kirkeh now that Amber and Umed are gone. Kirk still needs a job after all. That's someone Dev can yell at and feel superior to. Plus, maybe when Molly's done with Kev she can move onto Kirk, reignite that interest.
I will definitely not miss him.
I personally won't miss him AT ALL. I don't mean to offend but I don't think the man can act very well and I have to say, I find it rather irritating. So I'm extremely chuffed thats he's leaving ;)
I will miss him. Corrie's losing some fantastic characters at the moment. Blanche. Rita. Jack (all through necessity but sad, nonetheless). Then we've just lost Amber and Darryl... you may argue they were "filler roles" but I always enjoyed watching them. As I did Uncle Umed. That doorbell was genius. Meantime, we're left with drossy storylines like Kevin and Molly, Fiz and John and the interminable Tony-and-the-Connors merry-go-round. The problem with Corrie they're not developing their characters as they used to.
I can't believe Uncle Umed is leaving the Street. It must be stopped. His departure will leave a big hole in the corner shop!!What will Dev do now??He keeps us smiling when everyone else is moaning and gives us some light relief from Molly and Kevin's gut-wrenching affair. His tall stories and little tricks always get a chuckle from myself and many I know. The one episode where he accidentally dropped a bunch of grapes and pretended it was part of the scene was a particular favorite. Genius!!They should get rid of some of those useless characters like Aunty Pam and Theresa before axing poor Umed. I'm going to start a campaign!!Umed to stay!!
Get Umed back he was hilarious. What a funny man, he brought humour and a clumsiness to the show. I for one miss him greatly. He was the type of character who could have had loads of storylines both funny and more serious. Humour is something lacking in today's society and Umed bvrought me much laughter.
You rock Umed!!! Come back soon!!!
