My online blogging pal Old Cheeser normally blogs about Dr Who and Torchwood. However, one recent post is all about the representation of gay men in soaps and he has a lot to say about those we love and hate on Coronation Street too.
It's a long article but very informed, well written and definitely worth a read, so settle back with a cuppa and click right here.

OC, you're very welcome. TTFN from FN.
TTFN? Sorry chuck, being thick?
TTFN = Ta Ta For Now. Can't believe you've never heard that one before! ;)
I'll read it 2moro (when I'm more awake) but a quick glance seems to show that there are less than 20 characters in the history of every soap opera ever that are gay !
