We've hit the headlines for the second time this week.

Yesterday, the Coronation Street Blog along with podcasters Conversation Street were featured in The Sun online. You can find out more here.

Today, we're in The Daily Star

When the Buckingham Palace announcement was made earlier this week that Prince Philip was going to retire from royal duties, we mocked up an unoffocial announcement and posted it to social media. It went berserk, especially when the official ITV Corrie twitter account retweeted it.

And now it's ended up in the Daily Star too!

Tabloid rumour: Corrie explosion to kill off a Street legend

Another tabloid rumour in The Sun today says that Coronation Street bosses are going to kill off a Street legend with an explosion on the cobbles.

As always with these tabloid spoilers, we blog them here just for fun.  There is no official source for this news. It's Mr Curry Sauce, as always, who reveals that the stunt is "going to be carnage".

Mr Curry Sauce continues: "This is going to be up there with some of the best scenes in Corrie history. Characters are going to be crawling through flames to escape and there's talk of killing at least one."

But let's say, if there is just one character being killed off, who would you want it to be?  I can think of at least three I no longer enjoy watching on screen.

'Corrie's six sexy new babes' says Daily Star

This week on twitter, Coronation Street director Terry Dyddgen-Jones tweeted this:

“Casting a new female character today. 6 gorgeous hopefuls on a second recall.”

And then Corrie's casting director Janet Hampson tweeted back:

“They were utterly lovely weren’t they?”

Interesting as it was, I wouldn't have thought a twitter conversation between two casting professionals merited front page headlines in today's Daily Star. But, front page headlines they are.

Salacious Street stories from Sunday tabloids

There's more Coronation Street tabloid tales from today's Sunday papers.

The Sunday People reckon that Katherine Kelly, who plays Becky McDonald, has told friends she wants to leave the soap. A Street spokesman tells the paper Katherine is contracted until August 2011.

The News of the World report today that Corrie's on-set nurse is being investigated after sleeping pills disappear from a drugs cupboard.

Sunday tabloids go mad for Corrie news

Usually the Sunday tabloids have one or two stories on Coronation Street cast and crew but this Sunday, the tabloids have gone Corrie crazy. As they're tabloids, it's Sunday and it's British journalism at its worst/best, it's probably best to take any story with a pinch of salt when the only quote starts with: "A Corrie souce said..." Anyway, here we go with the news in today from the Sunday papers.

Coronation Street actors have been told to behave or be sacked. The Star.

Corrie actors are read the riot act by Producer. Sunday People.

Jack P Shepherd (David Platt) wants to be the Corrie King. Sunday People.

Helen Flanagan (Rosie Webster) and Alison King (Carla Connor) fight over Corrie clothes. Sunday People.

But best of all are the extracts from Bev Callard's (Liz McDonald) autobiography, which is being serialised in the News of the World.
