The New Map of Coronation Street

With yesterday's news about Victoria Street being extended, I noticed a lot of confusion on Twitter, with people wondering where exactly this new area slots in to the current set.

So I decided I would create a full map of Weatherfield as it exists in 2018, It isn't a perfect map, the scale of a few things is a little off, but it should help those people confused about where Victoria Street is.

I posted this on Twitter last night, and thanks to a few replies I added a few corrections, such as adding Speed Daal, and the placement of the Snooker Hall and Tattoo Parlour.

Coronation Street's Ordance Survey map

Ordnance Survey (OS), one of the UK’s leading map specialists, have mapped out the set of Coronation Street. Basing their work upon the set of the show in Salford Quays (England), the work covers streets of the town and footpaths in traditional OS format along with building outlines carrying business names or house numbers, whilst also offering second-screen style character details where relevant to the building.

Ordnance Survey representative Rob Andrews said of the map: “This has been a great project and highlights Ordnance Survey’s commitment to accurately map the rapidly changing face of Great Britain. This is one of the most famous streets in the country; however, it is only one of 87 other Coronation Streets which feature on the OS database.”

ITV launches interactive Corrie map

Eagle-eyed Corrie fans over at TV Forum have stumbled on an up to date official interactive map for Coronation Street and the surrounding areas..

You can zoom into the map and find out who lives where, you can also click certain things on the map such as the postbox and people on the street to get trivia and history on the show.

There's also little videos in some sections titled "Corrie Gold" which show classic scenes that took place near or inside that building, for example, the Butchers has a clip showing Ashley and Claire getting together.

Not only is it useful, but it looks really nice and detailed too, down to all the little road markings and props that you can see during the show, go check it out!

Who lives where on Coronation Street?

Over on my blog I have made a few pictures detailing the layout of Coronation Street, and where everybody lives. I put them together to illustrate to some Corrie fans where everybody lives, as they weren't quite sure of the layout of the street, or the location of Victoria Street.

Earlier this year I had a go at mapping out Weatherfield using the 'Wider Weatherfield' shots from the 50th anniversary week. Take a look here and see if you can work out where's where in Weatherfield!

Where in Weatherfield

Armed with the tram crash DVD, I decided to get some screenshots of Weatherfield and decipher what is where, and where is what in Weatherfield. To make the images larger, just click on them.

These locations seem to fit into the previous appearances on the show, the large sprawling park will be the Red Rec, according to older maps, Tile Street is behind Victoria Street, and the same with Queen's Precinct, which according to the older maps is a diamond shaped gathering of streets.

In this screenshot I uncovered the truth about Rosamund Street's strange viaduct, and I point out where Corrie's twin street, Jubilee Terrace is, also it seems this angle is looking in the direction of Greater Manchester.
