Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 2nd May

The Battersby sisters are doing their make up and hair and quaffing champers and reminiscing about Les's Xmas jumpers whilst Imran is doing the very important pre-wedding job of getting the handsome but dodgy paralegal to find evidence of Abi buying drugs. Ben follows Abi to a meeting although Kevin bursts in and says erroneously that Ben is a journalist, reporting on Abi's story for the Gazette. Abi works out where she has seen Ben before.

Toyah has found an Edwardian wedding frock in an antique shop (au contraire, Leanne looks very hot in a shoulder-less green number) whilst Imran gets gin thrown all over his maroon suit when Abi discovers what Imran is up to. Worse is to come when Abi kidnaps Toyah to try and talk her out of marrying Immers. It doesn't work though as Toyah and Imran get wed in the glamorous environs of the Chariot Hotel.

My prediction is that Spider's return is going to be a temporary thing to cheer up Toyah when Imran departs. I mean, I would love Toyah and Abi to raise Alfie in a non-traditional platonic partnership, but he's probably going to leave with Imran, isn't he.

Eid Mubarak to all those who celebrate! The Nazirs plus Stu are setting up the Eid feast. Stu, who had one job, has forgotten to order the food so he and Ken have to go to the cash 'n' carry to get supplies, which is closed, so Stu tries to break in. The feds turn up and and Stu and Our Ken get arrested. They are both let go, Stu with a warning about his previous criminal record, which I guess is going to come up in a new storyline very soon. Yasmeen tells Stu she's celebrating Eid with the people she cares about, which doesn't include Stu (or Zeedan).

Faye has an appointment with Dr Gaddas and is told that she has premature ovarian failure i.e. early onset menopause, which is why her periods stopped. Dr G suggests HRT medication - good luck getting the tablets/patches, Faye! Although it might be quite nice if Corrie acknowledged the menopause in a regular storyline - the only mention of it I can remember is Liz McDonald being insulted when someone suggested she might be doing through it. 20 years olds having an early menopause is a thing that happens, but it's very rare - whereas every woman goes through the change. I do wonder, however, if this whole story is so that Faye gets in touch with Miley again. I mean, she's going to come back at some point, why not now rather than in 2033?

Oh, and Max is OK, to everyone's chagrin, although Amy is pleased as it means that Max will have to face charges. This leads Steve to invite Jay-kub round for chips 'n' charades. Happy May Day!
