I think this is the second half of a Friday episode so I am in the right time and the right place. Otherwise it all feels a little strange. The first oddity is that it seems that Abi and Seb are being allowed to see the twins before they hike off to the far side of the world. Given that (as far as I am aware) neither Seb or Abi has had contact with the twins since the adoption was completed I am highly surprised that a meeting was arranged in minutes. Given the impending disruption in relocation I doubt that either the social worker responsible or adoptive parents would approve a meeting. And Abi sees sense and departs - although Seb does meet them. And later Seb tells Abi that he is also saying goodbye to her.
Many years ago Nicola Duffett had not long left 'Stenders when she and her family were walking around Paultons' Park when I was there with my family. I didn't know then that she would become Auntie Lucie in The Street. Her man sounds as bad as Geoff and she goes back to him - although she tells Yasmeen to get rid. Anyway as with all prison drama she soon magically materialises a phone (don't ask questions such as how they get there, get charged or get credit!). Yasmeen being an old person (copyright Amy) phones Geoff on the landline and he is brusque thinking it is a sales call until he goes into full salesman mode saying how wonderful it is to talk to the tomato sauce on his chips and that it is true that he will not testify against her in court - indeed he is trying to get the charges withdrawn and she can come home and if necessary he will get help to put him right because he has caused so much damage. Yasmeen does not believe him and under prompting from Lucie presses him for the ways he will change and what he will do to improve their lives. This rather puts Geoff on the spot but the waffle meister waffles for his life and assures Yasmeen that he will be a changed man.
Laura Neelan tells Gary that obviously he spoke to Rick because the safety deposit box was replenished (I cannot remember how Gary got the key to the deposit box or knew where it was - I think I am losing the plot). Laura also reports to Adam that she is back in the black and they have a drink. He is still leading her on - no wedding ring, drinks, and trying to worm information out of her. She is not giving a lot away merely that Rick has "minions" who do his bidding (above). Adam fails to take a phone call from Sarah and creates a cock and bull story later for Sarah to explain the smell of alcohol on his breath. He has a lot of Baldwin blood in his veins if you ask me.
Carla is at a loose end - pulling pints is not her forte - and Nick makes her an offer she cannot refuse - so that he can help look after Oliver would she like to run the factory. [Which reminds me - many moons ago she outsourced production to Leicester to an alleged computerised nicker stitcher. In the light of recent revelation are we sure that there is a robot sewing machine in Leicester and not a very large number of inadequately paid machine operatives in a very small space? - asking for a friend]. Sarah is at her wits end with Gary demanding a 100% rent increase so that he can keep Laura and Kelly in the manner to which the two of them have become accustomed. Carla has a quick read of the Underworld lease making notes all over it and within seconds I swear it is as if the formidable wonder woman of the Street is reborn in front of us as she makes it clear to Sarah which of them really knows what they are doing and that the same one is relishing taking Gary to the cleaners once her solicitor has licked the lease into shape. Yay Carla's back everyone! Factory workers of Weatherfield you had better start pulling your weight! And Carla does not think much of Adam's capability as a lawyer (above) - she reckons the factory should be suing him for gross negligence - if he wasn't married to Sarah!
Adam between women also talks Daniel into replacing Leanne at the solicitors until such time as Leanne is able to work again regularly and it will save Ken having to subsidise Daniel's lunchtime activities (and we all know how expensive they are!).
In the Rovers Jenny is getting upset with Johnny who has still not come home whilst Peter is seeking to find out more about Scott who admits to beating up the troublesome twosome who had tried to blackmail Carla a few weeks ago over her exploits when mentally disturbed a year ago.
With Jack's homework (w)rapped up - Abi apparently is the best Jack knows - he is off to bed and Kevin being the old softie that he is decides that after such a traumatic day for Abi it is entirely the right time to ask her to move in permanently. Abi suggests they need to talk to Jack, but he has been hovering in the doorway and immediately assures them that he is cool with it (is it me or does he look a lot older than 10?). Good try Kev but I just cannot see Abi being calm enough for the rest of her life!
The Empire strikes back - the resistance movement has not fallen over completely - she is calling Geoff deluded! She wants to believe him - but how can she. And then he admits that he has suffered like this before with "Tessa" - who is Tim's mum. She took everything - she made Geoff despise himself; and then when he met Yasmeen he felt hope for the first time in years. The resistance crumbles, the Empire is re-established - she commits to phoning him again tomorrow. The black hole has re-opened.
Oddities - well Sarah initially gets miffed at Carla's presence, Carla gives Adam a tongue lashing and yet Sarah agrees to Carla's terms! Abi being unable to cope with any of her own children but seeing Jack as a completely different person seems odd. And Adam - we know he wants to take Gary down but really pretending he is young free and single to worm information out of Laura. Sarah is not going to be happy and I want her to be happy!
Extra of the Week
Nick forgot to tell Sarah that Carla was in charge now and she does not take it terribly well (above). Ignoring this major sea change in factory management is Dirk who clearly popped in on a non-social distancing day appearing in the corner of the scene. Which was odd because from a different angle two seconds earlier he simply was not there! Dirk lives yay!
Ms Kelstar will be back next week. Sorry no time to tell you about my holiday - but Kent is looking lush!

I'm not surprised that Nick would want Carla who is business savvy in charge of the factory instead of Sarah who's rarely in the factory these days and couldn't be bothered to consult her husband a lawyer about Gary's rent demands.
I also think it's hyporcritcal for Sarah to be miffed at Carla when she once went to Carla for advice on how to take the factory from Nick after he stole their gran's money.
