Hello and welcome to last Wednesday's episode. Or is it the second half of Friday's? Or is it Monday's? I'm very confused, particularly now that going to Freshco's is OK but going to the Red Rec is bad, apparently.
Anyway, I feel like every Monday I recap the same stories, the first one being of course Ghastly Geoff. His fear, arrogance and anger as Yasmen starts to unmask him is masterful. Don't know if the Inside Soap Awards will happen this year, but if Ian Bartholomew doesn't win big, I'm going to kick off.
Yasmeen leaves him in the house and goes to Alya's, where Geoff texts 42 times, threatening suicide. Yasmeen is concerned and after some argy bargy, she and Alya go to make sure Geoff hasn't made good on his promise. If only! He's disappeared but has left behind a broken picture frame covered in blood. He's a messy bitch who lives for drama, alright. He's actually down the boozer watching Yasmeen worry on his webcam. WHAT AN EVIL MAN. Yasmeen refuses to go to Spain and Alya loses patience, stomping off. Geoff returns and they make up, but then he admits that he did cut his figure on the picture frame, nothing more serious than that. Whilst he's out at the chippie, Yasmeen rings the police to speak to someone about accessing information about her husband under Claire's law.
The second story is the quad squad and the Battersby Brown-Winter household. Bernie departs and warns Ches that it's more than "baby blues" with our Gemini. Even he has noticed that she's not overly excited about Aled's hearing aids. He tries to talk to Gemma, but she refuses to admit that anything's wrong.
Meanwhile, Michael's given up on his inventor/entrepreneur dreams and has gone for a sales job at the factory. For someone who's got the gift of the gab, he's quite nervous about the interview. Alina's quite taken with his charm. Isn't he a bit old for her? Mind you, David is 30, despite looking about thirteen and three quarters.
Until next Monday, which will be Wednesday again, I think.

Surely Geoff will see on the webcam that Yasmeen has made an enquiry about Claire's Law. He's the sort who would check the webcam in the middle of the night. Why didn't Yasmeen smell beer on his breath - or peppermints? A ten minute dash to the chippie doesn't seem long enough for her to have a chat so perhaps he comes back and catches her.
Maybe it's live feed only? I'm quite looking forward to Yasmeen finding out whatever it is because I think there's going to be more than what she's expecting.
I shudder to imagine Yasmeen quarantined at home with that horrible man.
Now we are only getting 3 episodes a week it is noticeable how little storylines move on from episode to episode. We have Emma and her mardy face playing the martyr again, David doing his evil grin again, Gemma pretending everything is fine again. The only thing that moved on after another episode of Geoff manipulating Yasmeen was that she rang the police.
Exactly, Sue. These storylines and the character's default position is not entertainment. It is unfortunate to see a young woman's martyrdom. David is reactive and stupid given he has two children to care about.Little wonder Gail gets frustrated but I do wish she wouldn't simper, whisper and worry. Perhaps it's because she is reliant on David's goodwill regarding a home. As for Gemma, words fail me. Boring. She is suffering but pig headed to the enth degree. The storyline is ridiculous because no woman could manage four babies without constant help. What in the world is going to happen with this storyline as the babies grow?. Will they suddenly disappear? I wonder if the long term scenario has been thought through or is it made up as they go along? It really is like watching paint dry. Now we are all home bound, it would be good to have a few laughs from our so called entertainment. The public are doing a sterling job, without ITV,sending round the funnies.
I agree, the show seems to have a much slower pace with just 3 eps a week.
What's happened to Micheal's gay footballer story? I was ready for Micheal to be outed by the press. Has it been put on hold?
I hope James and Alina get together. He seems to be kind and caring, if very restless.
Sorry Sharon but it is James who is gay, Michael is the one with the baby daughter.
Sorry, but I would not miss Emma, Chesney et al, if they permanently left the show. In my humble opinion this story is completely ridiculous how on earth can they support 5 kids on a kabab shop wage!
I agree regarding the quads quonondrum. I think the writers are checking to see how the storyline sits with viewers. Personally, I think it has gone down like a lead balloon. Please write them all out...perhaps a new start with a decent job for r chesney...and soon before we all loose our minds. This storyline makes no sense and is boring.
Did I miss something about the Ray/Abby/Kevin storyline? Last I remember was that Ray was threatening to shop them both. Did it get sorted out?
The quads story is dreary and unrealistic. Where's the home help? Rita was absolutely gasping to play granny; why haven't they set something up with her, even a couple of days a week?
Where has Johnny been; is the actor ill? We see Jenny in nearly every episode but him, hardly ever.
Sue, you are bang on about the glacial pace of the episodes (still move faster than American soaps though).
A friend of mine had twins. When one got settled, the other one would start up. Then they started walking. Constant fatigue for the parents. Multiply that by two. What are the writers thinking with this dumb quad story?
