The previews are in for New Year’s week on Coronation Street and Mary’s private detective tells her Jude was last seen at a B&B in Blackpool and she cajoles Roy into making the trip.
They find Jude and Mary asks him to come home however Jude tells her he can’t as he owes the B&B owner £500. While Mary heads off to find a cashpoint, Jude turns to his new girlfriend Kelly and painting himself as a surgeon, makes out Mary is one of his patients!
Mary returns to the B&B with the money for Jude but when Kelly refers to Jude as Dr Ken Barlow, Roy realises that Jude is up to his old tricks. Kelly blows Jude’s story wide open to Mary and Roy but still, Mary gives Jude the benefit of the doubt and handing him the £800 tells him she’ll wait for him in the car. Oh Mary… what are you thinking of?

Mary, you stupid stupid person! Where are your brains????
This is going in the direction of Vera's never-ending devotion to Terry, no matter what he did. I think Mary feels so desperate for a family, and so guilty over giving Jude up as a baby (not helped by his reminding her about it repeatedly) that she's willing to put with a lot more than most people would.
I hope she does come to realize she has to cut him loose, and I want to see a scene where she tells him off and sends him packing, much like Jack did with Terry. "I hope the lie chokes you!" indeed!
Can we please end this? Now?
Has anybody actually done a DNA test to prove that Jude is really Mary's son? (I don't remember, to be honest). If not, maybe he is lying about that as well.
