Today, the scene has been cleared.
An Ofcom spokesperson today said: "We considered a number of complaints objecting to two male characters kissing in this episode, but won't be investigating.
"Our rules do not discriminate between scenes involving opposite sex and same sex couples.
"Also the scenes were not in any way sexually explicit. For these reasons they were not scheduled inappropriately and did not exceed generally accepted standards."

I thought the scene was GREAT! And hot. And I'm a straight, white woman. Cheers to Corrie for having them go in for the kill just like the rest of em.
Thank goodness some sanity has prevailed.
Anonymous 16.10. What has your colour got to do with it?
I have always felt uncomfortable with passionate kissing on screen. I look away, I blush, I am basically a mess because I think "Oh my god they are going to strip and have sex right in front of me". I blame all this on the nuns that taught me. Yup it is all their fault.
If the writers of this particular episode were doing this to test the reaction of viewers I have a suggestion. The gays have fought long and hard to be accepted into society and have suffered badly. They are still fighting and still suffering. People will say that this is shoving it in their faces. So cool it down and as a matter of fact cool down all the passionate, messy, noisy, lip smacking crap and give us all a break. Coronation Street was never meant to be a "soft porn" soap right?
Who are these people who complain about this sort of scene. It's absolutely pathetic that in this day and age, when we have equal marriage, they still have to vent their bigoted little spleens, wasting Ofcom's time. What struck me about the d new was how very well performed it was. These two actors have real chemistry, all the more remarkable because of of them happens to be straight.
What bothers me is not gays, straight kissing, but it's always the angle of the camera when it is obvious that the couple are not really kissing each other (started way back with the Aids scare) now there is actually only 1 actor who kisses with the lips and the other kisses above or below - looks corny - definitely not sexy - why don't they leave more to the imagination - could be even steamier
Only 67 out of several million viewers? Hardly worth the effort to investigate, isn't it?
I have no problem with gay kisses onscreen, but my nearly eighty three year old grandmother does, like many of the older generation, who grow up in a different time. I think the older generation's feelings, need to be respected when it comes to thing like this, as well as the younger generation. It's a tough balancing act.
I also thought the scene was hot and I am a straight woman as well! The fact that anyone in this day and age would file a formal complaint about something like this beggars belief. It's 2016 people, let's get a grip.
What the hell !
Live and let live, love in any colour, race or gender is great ! Everyone has the right to love and be loved ... Grow up you crazy people !!!
So are you trying to say that gays weren't around 80 years ago? Why should it matter whether it's a man and woman, woman and woman or man and man? My nan was 84 when I came out 20 years ago and she didn't have a problem!
I thought it was lovely. The soaps have helped to educate many of the older generation. I am sure this kind of scene has helped my mother to accept and understand me. My mother now treats my boyfriend and I as a couple and calls him the fourth son that she always wanted.
I agree with Tvor....67 out of many millions is a drop in the ocean. Why even alert the public to it? Publicity?
67 people complaining that's not bad going at all! Show a woman breastfeeding however and I believe the complaints commission would be inundated..
Why on earth would anyone have any objections to this and why on earth should it be an issue for discussion? In Britain, we have been proud of being "politically correct" which just means being respectful of our diversity. We are a diverse country, tolerant and accepting.... therefore, why should this be sensationalised. This is our norm. Accept it
Some people really need to get a grip. Its now 2016 for god sake! There are a lot more serious problems going on in this world right now that people should be focusing on. Omg it was a kiss. They werent exactly ripping each others clothes off and doin the fandango were they. Well done yet again to corrie who have the balls to run with storylines that may offend some but also educate a lot. Keep it up!
