Lucy Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt on Coronation Street, has signed a new contract to stay with the show for another year.
An ITV spokeswoman told the Sunday People today that Lucy signing a new contract was 'fantastic news' as she has a huge following, especially with younger fans.
And Mr Curry Sauce is back! Where's he been hiding for the last few months? The Mirror reports: "An insider believes Lucy will be joined by new cast members over the coming months. They are going to need a lot of gutsy girls to keep everyone happy for three hours a week.”

Bethany needs to retake her GCSE's so I hope she goes to Weatherfield Tech or whatever they call it now. That would finish the bullying storyline which younger viewers may have enjoyed but I think it's gone as far as it can. It would be good to see Bethany and Craig as the first kids on the Street who go on to higher education while staying local. It would be quite authentic as many families don't have the funds to pay for halls of residence. As for Bethany's friends, I hope these turn out to be students at college rather than a pile of families we've never heard of who apparently live round the corner.
Oh. That's unfortunate, I was hoping she would go back to Milan with her mum.
Humpty. As Bethany is only 16, she would only be going to the equivalent of 6th form college. This would be local anyway, probably the same college as Craig. Halls of residence would only be needed if Bethany went to Uni aged 18+
I'm actually glad she's staying. I think in the last few months since she was toned down, Lucy has really come into the role. Playing Bethany scared and vulnerable has given her a chance to show us she can act and I think she's done a good job. She's earned the contract. I look forward to seeing what she does in the next 12 months.
I agree with Peter. I'm enjoying Bethany much more now. And I'm one for keeping up with the characters born on the Street
The traditional on Corrie is for the female youth to drop out of school,work at Underworld and lose their virginity to Jason. I am more concerned about who will take on Jason's duties.
Who is Mr Curry Sauce?
I'm on team Lucy too!
Lucy / Bethany fan here too, have been all along. Even though at times the character acts and even looks more mature than her silly mother.
@anon 21:07 Corrie Source, I reckon.
LOL about 'Jason's duties'!
I too am enjoying Bethany more since she stopped being a mouthy mare. Showing her being bullied has really given her something to act about, instead of just following along the Platt drama.
I do hope they don't drag this bullying out too long though - bullies need their comeuppances too, and I would like to see Bethany sink her teeth into other stories also.
Yes I agree. I like her character now. Not so much at the beginning tho.
