The latest spoilers from Now Magazine via the Sun (where you now have to register to see their online content so pffft to them) says that Tina McIntyre is about to have a fling with Peter Barlow after Tommy abruptly leaves her (due to Chris Fountain's sacking).
Judging from the initial comments on this post where someone else revealed this spoiler, it's going to to be a popular storyline. But think of it this way. If Lily's paternity hasn't been revealed yet, it will at least distract Tina from that and she won't be crossing her arms and glaring at David all the time. I can do with a bit less of that, thank you very much.
Michelle is looking forward to it, saying "He's quite sexy. Most of the women on Corrie have a thing for him. He's dead nice and a proper gentleman, very thoughtful."
We all know Peter Barlow is very like his father and has a weakness for women. We have been seeing signs that Peter's self esteem has been taking a kicking lately, having lost his business and dependent on Carla for his employment. She's paying for the wedding, the ring and everything else and it's hard on his pride to accept all that. He's trying to make the best of things but it's difficult.Tina and Tommy were love's young dream for awhile but things broke over the surrogacy and though they're back together, I don't think that crack has really mended properly. I don't think it would take much to part them for good and when it happens, as it will due to the departure of Chris Fountain, Tina won't be the first woman that rebounds with another man.
But Peter Barlow? He's old enough to be her father. When has that stopped anyone on a soap! Older men and much younger women have been a fact on Corrie throughout its history. Ken is 15 years older than Deirdre and most of Deirdre's husbands have been that much or more older than her or that much younger. Leanne (born in 1981) is 16 years younger than Peter who's 48 now (born in 1965) and Carla is 38 (born in 1975). Sunita dated Duggie Fergusson and Dev was 10 or 12 years older than Sunita. Who else is there? Gail and Martin. Mike Baldwin and Susan Barlow as well as Linda Sykes. Roy and Hayley, even!
Be that as it may, it seems to me it's entirely in character for Peter to soothe his pride with another woman. I had thought he was heading for the bottle again and that may be involved as well, in my opinion but maybe they'll surprise me and he'll jump into this sober. Ya think?

I first read about this on DigitalSpy, and was rather taken aback by the strong reaction of Carla fans! I thought that it was a bit unlikely, but since Peter was cheating on Leanne (Carla's "friend") when he got together with her, it shouldn't come as a massive shock if he cheats on her! But people seem really, er, invested in Carla and Peter having an epic love story.. Peter is a self-destructive middle-aged man who is feeling unempowered in his life.. why is it such a shock that he cheats with a much younger woman?

Peter and Carla are a great couple, this storyline is just stupid.
Oh I have no doubt that he will be back on the drink when Carla dumps him!! Which she will.
I never bought into the whole Peter and Carla love story because I'm not all that keen on Carla. The good thing about this new development is at least he's leaving Leanne alone. She and Nick are developing surprising well as a couple and, no, that doesn't mean they have to be happy. The other good thing is that Chris Gascoyne is such a fabulous actor that he raises everyone's game when he works with them. Could be the making of Michelle Keegan. The relationship is obviously not going to last as MK is leaving but could be fun to watch.
I always thought that if Peter strayed again it would be back to Leanne. I was always against the Peter/Carla, Leanne/Nick storyline as I always liked Leanne/Peter/Simon together as a family unit, but as Humpty Dumpty says Leanne & Nick are developing well, although it would be nice for the writers to give her something to smile about occasionally! Back to topic,I think that all Peter would want would be a one night stand to prove to himself he was still a man and not totally reliant on Carla!
You know what? For me, it's not the cheating.. it's the mix of these two characters that just doesn't seem to gel - what on earth would she see in him, and he in her?
It would make about as much sense to pair up Mary with Chesney or Owen with Kylie.
YAWN... Are the writers on auto-pilot? This show needs to improve, quick.
Take care of that Chris Gascoyne actor and don't send him down that road (Kevin and Molly) that takes away his dignity.
For goodness sakes Tina is becoming like the local bycycle - Peter is old enough to be her father and I thought Carla was the love of his life? Just bed hopping for the sake of it, then she will be SHOUTING at him in that belligerent way, big gold ear rings clanging when he does something to displease the little Madam. It seems to me they are scrabbling around for ideas until the actress leaves next year.
Peter Parp - I agree. They really are looking for ways to shoehorn Tina into everything before she leaves.
I have to say though, Alison King and Chris Gascoyne are superb and I'm actually looking forward to the fallout from this because I'm sure they will be BRILLIANT. Peter cheating on the love of his life is not going to end well for him. Carla will be crushed and he really will have to fight for her forgiveness!
I don't know why they didn't wait a week or so to think what the best way to handle the Chris Fountain firing would be and then buy out Michelle Keegan's contract and send them off together instead of the weak announcement by David that Tommy had left.
Another implausible affair. Peter Barlow may be alright for a bloke pushing 50, but Michelle Keegan is a very attractive 20 something who's won sexiest female in soap a few times. On what planet, would Tina look twice at Peter?

You know, Peter's been unfaithful so many times, there's not much I can sy anymore. I haven't got the energy to complain. Maybe if they'd kept him and Leanne together, there'd be more story possibilities for him.

Carla and Peter do work, but maybe that's the problem ( being after all, a 'soap')and you know the saying Carla; " if he did it with you, he'll do it to you"; however I was enjoying the compatibility of the two characters.
How is this affair going to start, will they be trapped in an elevator together? I don't see how else they'd end up with such intimate contact to cross that line. Lord have mercy.

They always said that Tina would go out in an explosive storyline, I wonder if this was the plan all along but they've just had to change a few things to reflect Chris Fountain leaving abruptly.
In terms of storyline, I think it works in terms of Carla getting her own due to what she did to Leanne, however, the pairing of Peter and Tina is just too odd for me. If they were going to have Tina hooking up with someone, it would have thought David.

Yep have to agree that this is wrong on so many levels. Yeah younger women go with older men but usually rich older men not sad sack bankrupt ex alkis that stink of fag smoke! Just sex for sex sake - very weak and in poor taste idea indeed says Frosty.
Nothing Peter Barlow does would surprise me, he's got such a poor track record where women are concerned.
But for the life of me, I just cannot see Tina getting involved with a sad old man (which is how a character like Tina would see him) - it would be like shagging your dad.
But having said that, I can't wait for Carla to get her come uppance!

Peter and Carla are one of the strongest couples and the actors are the best on the show THAT is why Michelle Keegan is going to be involved in this storyline with them.
Let me guess, when Tina leaves, she is pregnant with Peter's baby.
I don't get why the character of Carla keeps getting the whole "gets her comeuppance" from fans of the show. She's hardly the first character to have been embroiled in affairs, and I don't recall any " serves Leanne right," "Leanne gets her comeuppance", when Peter had an affair with Carla. Seem to remember the Carla-bashing going on there as well.
Yes Carla has had two affairs with men who were involved in relationships, but then again, so has Leanne, and so has Maria (the two women she so 'wronged').
I agree it's a case of what goes around comes around, but I find it rather comical how only CERTAIN characters on this show seem to 'deserve' it, when others gets a pass.
"The actors are the best on the show"...... got to be one of the duo themselves writing that.

Oh sometime this month or October it's the christening of baby Lily.Sorry if I'm giving too much away but in a recent issue of Inside Soap there were pictures of Leanne walking away from Nick after "secrets and lies are exposed at baby Lily's christening".From the look on her face,I'm guessing she knows that Nick cheated.And maybe he's the father

Simples, I just don't like Carla. Never have, never will. She's a home-wrecker and I will be delighted to see her get hers.
I am intrigued. I think it is interesting that Peter - now in the factory - is following in the shoes of other male bosses at the factory. Makes me think of the Baldwin men for sure. Mike and Linda.....Danny and Leanne.....I think it will be interesting to see how the writers make it happen.
As for Carla...I think that because she habitually goes after men who are taken....she gets so little sympathy. I will be happy to see her get her payback for hurting Leanne as she did.
Carla has such potential....and there are times I like her....but not when it comes to her relationships with men.
I think it will be a moment of madness for Peter that leads to this and it will be nothing more than an ego boost for him. But Tina is young and she will probably become infatuated with him.
It also means that Alison King and Chris Gascoyne will have lots of dramatic scenes next year. They are superb so I'm looking forward to the fallout already.

Yep he's cheated on most if not all of his women and he was even a bigamist.
Carla worships the ground Peter walks on and he knows that. I suspect that she will forgive him for this but Rob will try and make it impossible for Peter to win her back.
I love Carla and Peter together but I'd quite like to see a new man on the scene for Carla. Peter would be gutted if he thought he lost her and he'd reach for the bottle! Jealous, distraught Peter Barlow would be great to watch. He deserves to suffer before Carla forgives him.
Excellent point Anon 08:18 - I've noticed time and again that Carla is referred to as a "home-wrecker" when the men she's gotten involved with were clearly interested in pursuing something with her. That kind of arcane labelling goes all the way back to Adam and Eve - if only the evil woman would leave the poor man alone and stop corrupting him. It takes two to tango and if that man was truly devoted to his wife/girlfriend/shagbag in the first place, he might be flattered by Carla's attention but it wouldn't get further than that. Yes, Carla would've better served herself and others by not going after men who were already involved but to portray those men like innocent victims of her attentions is not right.
Given the age difference between Peter and Tina, I find it impossible to believe they'd share enough in common to have an affair but then I guess that does feed into the "mid-life crisis" stereotype?
