In this week's fab Inside Soap magazine, there's an interview with Natalie Gumede, who plays bunny boiler Kirsty Soames. The interview with Natalie is part of the mag's interviews with ladies of soapland who'll sizzle this summer. Ooh, I do like a bit of alliteration.
Anyway, Natalie says that Kirsty's parents will be arriving in a couple of months to Coronation Street and she says: "Her father is a force to be reckoned with! Of course, nothing can justify Kirsty's behaviour so I don't think the viewers will have any sympathy for her. Even so, it may give them more of a clue as to what made her the way she is."
She also reveals that she loves working with Alan Halsall, who plays Tyrone in Corrie. "There's a lot of trust between us," she says. I can scream and shout at him in our scenes and when the director calls 'cut' I know that everything will be ok."
That's good to hear, because it does sound as if there'll be a lot of screaming and shouting going on between Kirsty and Tyrone in the upcoming domestic storyline.
Natalie has been nominated for Best Newcomer in this year's British Soap Awards. Have you voted yet?

Here's my guess. Her father had very high expectations of her, possibly emotionally abused her or physically and thus fueled her low self esteem. That leads to her possessiveness and violent lashing out at times. It's not uncommon for police and other people in that sort of authority to have control issues as well.
As you are always spot on in your theories Tvor, I'll go with you on this one ;-)
Oh spare us more "family" members turning up. If you want to be reunited with a lost parent or siblng, dont bother to go onto Davina's Long Lost Family show, just go and live in Coronation Street as they always turn up like bad pennies.
Morning Frosty! Chirpy and cheery as ever!
Stella's mum, Tommy's dad, Carla's brother ... I suppose we are meant to understand Kirsty's bizarre behaviour which might then endear her to us. OK, it's worth a try. So far, I haven't warmed to her.
Nor I Big Egg....don't really care about this character so the fact they are bringing in Mom and Dad to maybe explain her behaviour is of no interest to me.....perhaps she is just a natural born sociopath.
I'd much rather that Kirsty NOT turn out to be a psychopath and someone whose behaviour can be explained and with help, modified.
Behaviour explained and modified.....oh no, then that would mean she would remain on the Street! Absolutely no chemistry between Kirsty and Tyrone...wrong woman, wrong fit.
Maybe they're coming to take her back to the loony bin where she escaped from.
