Vicky Entwistle, who is leaving her role as Janice Battersby on Coronation Street soon, gives a long video and text interview to the Sunday tabloid News of the World. In typical NotW style, the interview's gossipy and gobby.
Vicky confirms that Janice will be leaving Corrie with tasty Trev the trash-man. But before Janice leaves, she'll have a fight with Eileen Grimshaw and while filming the fight, Vicky ended up punching Katy Cavanagh (Julie Carp) in the mouth by mistake.
However, as the paper is a subscription-only website, which we can't support, you can read a very brief summary of some of the interview at Digital Spy.

Janice has been really annoying for ages with just sniping one liners and goby, mean, factory bullying. Since the reported falling out at Granada she was given very little to do. Recently with Leanne we saw the caring side to Janice which was really nice to see after such negativity (though do blank from your mind the ridiculous drunken going to Spain story with somebody she’d met in the rovers for two minutes which was, just toe curling) It’s been ages since they announced she was leaving and now recently she is supposed to have moved in with Julie, I thought maybe Janice might have been staying. I thought that the Janice/ Julie flat sharing would have been fun, especially the way Julie set down the ground rules with Jeremy Paxman and all.
Anyway, when the Battersby’s landed on the cobbles back in the 90’s I hated them, they ruined the street as far as I was concerned. They all softened, even Lez. Look at Leanne, she’s dabbled in everything - I didn’t think I’d back her corner ever. And ‘our Toyah’, well look how well she did for herself. So when we look at Becky and Kylie today, running around, out of control acting like yobs - they could be the Battersby’s of tomorrow :)
Good point, Beth, about today's chavs been the beloved characters of tomorrow. Most people don;t realise that when the Ogdens moved in in 1964, the public hated them, considering them 'common' and to be 'ruining the Street' before going on to be one of the most beloved couples ever. However, to effect that sort of transformation, you need great writing, strong storylines and organic character-development (ie not having characters acting out of character for the sake of a one-off plotline). They managed it with the Windasses quite recently - but Becky (and I'm one of the few remaining Becky fans) seems to be going backwards. They've taken a character the public used to like and wearing away everyone's patience. They MUST get on top of this.
Quoted from the DS report:
She added: "I have no regrets about saying goodbye to Janice. I don't miss her. Maybe after I've proved I'm actually an actress and not Janice, I may go back. Never say never."
She'll have to go a long way to prove that, IMO!
Stan Ogden was never particularly beloved. He was always a "waster" and people sympathised with Hilda having to work two jobs and never having any money to compete with the likes of Annie Walker.
So much of the humour in Corrie used to come from characters' little foibles like Hilda's pretentions with her "muriel". Getting trashed and behaving like a yob is more the province of the London rubbish and is not entertainment, its endurance.
