There is a Coronation Street spoilers in the papers that Maria Connor is going to be victim of what The Sun calls an attack.
The story involves an Underworld client called Frank in an obvious rewrite to get round Kym Marsh's exit. They're saying that Maria will take the job as Carla's assistant and the new client, Frank clearly fancies her. Carla sends Maria to his house to close a deal (a brand new assistant? Seriously?) and he tells her that if she wants the order she has to "be nice" to him. Apparently we will be left guessing as to what happens but if I know Maria, she'll fight him off and run away.
This is clearly a storyline that should have featured Michelle as she's been Carla's assistant for a few months and at least would have had a little experience with clients and, in fact, just before Michelle goes off our screens (for Kym Marsh's maternity leave), this Frank will be seen giving her the glad eye. Ah well, such things are necessary under the circumstances. You'd never see that happening to Carla. She'd have his rude bits nipped off and served to him on a platter if he tried it with her!

Oh for goodness sake why on earth "substitute" Maria for Michelle, she is a hairdresse and an ex kennell maid, what does she know about spreadsheets and business? She is a bit er, intelletucally challenged as well - NOT believeable. Carla should have employed Gail as her PA, that would have lead to some scenes!
Well it was a surprise that Carla hired Michelle in the first place, so it's not a complete shock to think that she would hire someone else without experience. Obviously we know that Michelle was supposed to be involved with Frank, but maybe the attack storyline was always intended for Maria - but with Chris? I think this storyline makes more sense with Maria than Michelle, because she is just so naive and trusting.
Anyway, it would have been nice for Maria to be happy, although I think this could still be a very strong storyline. I wonder how it will link in with her relationship with Chris.
Anything for ratings, eh Corrie?
Underworld has a history of dim assistants going right back to Rosie, after all, and including Trev! And yet another reason for Sally to get her nose out of joint because she's always angling for the job!
A link may be that Frank attacks Maria and everyone suspects Chris...due to his history of domestic violence when in this case he is actually innocent.
Hang on, Maria working for CARLA??? I know they buried the hatchet and agreed not to hold a grudge, but neither do they like each other. Never did, even before the truth about Cala & Liam emerged. And the factory would hold so many associations with Tony Gordon for Maria (who was briefly involved in the seige, after all). No, this is the girl who didn;t know know the first thing about business when she inherited Lad Rags. It makes no sense.
Well, exactly, Cobblestone. I expect it's a quick rewrite due to Kym Marsh's eary maternity leave.
