It's that time of year again and next Saturday, viewers to ITV1 in the UK can settle back in the warm glow of a festive episode of our favourite drama. Given some of the details previewed in the TV magazines it will combine the traditional cosiness (a carol service) and the return of a certain (yawn . . .) character. Let's hope her heels skid on the wet cobbles. Has Corrie always turned on the nostalgia at Christmas though? Join me as I trundle down the decades to discover what the Street has offered us at this special time of year.

Meanwhile, what gifts would you hand out to the residents of the Street this Christmas?
