In case anyone's wondering - the Robert Burns quote which Roy Cropper murmured after Eddie Windass criticised his attire "Oh wad some power...etc" (in other words, pot, kettle, black) is from the poem "To A Louse", which is worth a read. It reminds me of the Corrie wedding/funeral church scenes!

That wasn't the only poetry last night either. On leaving the factory to go to watch the Bruce Lee season in town, Trevor said: 'Enter the Dragon, exit Trevor Dean', which is an adaptation of a line from Kung-Fu International by John Cooper Clarke. http://www.johncooperclarke.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=87:kung-fu-international&catid=36:poems&Itemid=56
It's been mystifying me for some time; this brain transplant Roy Cropper underwent - which University did Roy Cropper attend? Which honours degree did he achieve? Because as far as I know its none of the above. Yet he's punching well above his character's intellectual weight.
He started off as an anorak/stalker bit of a weirdo type of character, now he knows everything about EVERY academic subject under the sun. Even Ken defers to him on occasions - and he's a university qualified ex-school teacher/head.
Speaking of poetry and performance poet John Cooper Clarke, don't forget Corrie's own Craig Charles: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PG0X7GPROsA
