Blanche Hunt has been voted Coronation Street fans' favourite woman - past or present - in The Coronation Street Blog Oggies Awards 2010.

Blanche came first in the poll here on the Coronation Street blog with 16% of the vote.

In joint second place came Rita Sullivan and Hilda Ogden with 11% of the vote each.

In third place came Bet Lynch with 8%.

In joint fourth place there were three Corrie women with 5% of the vote each - Becky McDonald, Audrey Roberts and Vera Duckworth.

Thanks to everyone who voted in The Oggies - the very first Coronation Street Blog Awards!

With thanks to our blogger Yoork for designing the Oggies logo and to our blogger Sunny Jim for totting up the results.

I'd put Blanche as best battleaxe, but she was quite a woman. I'm glad Rita was near the top, she deserves it. Shocked not to see the likes of Elsie, Ena and Annie near the top though. They were the mould of classic soap women.

I also was surprised that Blanche won but there you go! It's good to have a free hand at voting for whoever you want to vote for isn't it? I'm really pleased with the number of votes we had and hopefully next year we can be even bigger on the oggies.

At least it was someone well-deserved. These awards are a good idea, puts mine in the shade tbh. Btw, my Corrie couple countdown continues, although I'm on a break now as it's exams time but will reprise in about a month.
