Happy Boxing Day 2.0! Hope everyone had a good, socially-distanced Christmas. Xmas Day Corrie was quite nice, wasn't it? It's my theory that everyone in Weatherfield, Walford and Emmerdale always has a terrible time at Xmas in order to make everyone feel better about wanting to kill their relatives by 8 p.m. but because very few people were with their families this year, the 25th Dec episode had to be sweet.
Adam carries on with this desire to punish Peter by saying he'll tell the cops it was his uncle who attacked him. Presumably Simon also smelled of booze after his lock in with Shona, non? Peter talks about leaving t'cobbles for Plymouth (makes a change from Portsmouth, but you're in Tier 3, Peter! You shouldn't be travelling!) Danny-boy tries to get first Simon, then Carla to get Peter to change his mind, but it's all moot anyway as Peter starts spitting blood. He ends up in Kate Oates Memorial where the hot doc tells him that his oesophageal varices are bleeding (or something) and liver failure is a distinct possibility. Well at least the writers are staying true to their assertion that Peter Will Die If He Ever Drinks Again.
The newly awake 'n' well Adam comes 'round to meet with Sarah and finds
out that she's dobbed in Gangsta Gazza to the po-po. Sarah tries to convince
her hubby that it was Gary who attacked him and not Peter.
Seems more likely than the perp being 5'1" Sarah-Lou, but I think we all have our eyes on
juvenile delinquent Simon, n'est-ce pas?
Peter makes Daniel promise not to tell any other Barlows or fellow travellers about his prognosis, but Daniel immediately breaks this by telling Adam as a way of persuading him not to tell the police that Peter attacked him. Daniel should perhaps go into hostage negotiation instead of whatever he does now for money as Adam tells D.S. Baldy that it was Gary who attacked him.
It's the day of Geoff's funeral (the post-mortem and the inquest were quick, weren't they?) and Sally talks about going to Chester instead of the funeral. Tier 3, Sally! Because Ian Bartholemew is on contract for a few more episodes, he appears as Marley's ghost to Yasmeen, complaining that the funeral programme has a spelling mistake. Both Yas and Tim swerve the funeral and she confesses that she hears Geoff berating her for not doing the washing up properly or not keeping the remote controls in the right order or place. Well, I'm with Geoff on that one (I won't go up on any roofs, just to be safe). Tim talks about his happy memories with his dad in Blackpool and Yasmeen tells him that they did both love him at one point.
Apologies for perving over Imran yet again, but he enjoying being a foster dad is making my latent hormones squeal. From her window and surrounded by empty bottles, Leanne watches him, Toyah and the baby. The dream is over pretty quickly though as social services call to say Mason's mum is out of hospital so their services are no longer needed.
Meanwhile in their bubble, Billy treats Paul and Todd for a sit down curry (Tier 3 Billy! No eating in!). Todd invites Ajay (helpline manager) and flirts with him (to make Billy jealous, I assume).
At number 8, Shona talk about going back to work (I'd've thought looking after that rabbit was a full time job). To celebrate them getting back together David offers to make Shona a meal and Shona offers something else and they decide on the latter. Social distancing, Shona!
