As we know Sam's been on the drugs, but Ritalin rather than the skag. He sits in the cafe, ostensibly doing revision but he is dizzy and then collapses in the street. The Battersbabes and Nick converge in the hospital where Toyah gets her counsellor on but it's Leanne's spider sense that's tingling.
Meanwhile, Will shows more maturity than Megan, who's pleased that Sam is in Kate Oates Memorial, whereas he is concerned that their bullying of him has led to this turn of events. Never one to miss an opportunity to twirl her villainous moustache (Leanne won't let her borrow her Immac), Malevolent Megan turns up to threaten Sam once again. He's got the picture now, Meg!
Kit is rude to Swain about working whilst checking up on her step-niece. As we know, Kit didn't bother with the nappies, childhood illnesses or the first 18 years of Brodie's life. He meets the witness in the Mal attack who identifies D.S. Green as the perp, but Kit threatens him with losing his pub's alcohol licence and he backs off.
A classic sitcom or soap trope is lack of communication leading to misunderstandings. In soap logic then, it makes sense for Alya not to tell Adam that she will be personally sued if Barlow and Associates take on Jemma someone or other as a client. In real life, not so much. She tells the dark lord of Fabian's that they won't be bullied and they will have Jemma as a client. This seems like a somewhat foolish idea. Is Alya still supposed to be training to become a lawyer? We see her tip-tapping away at her laptop or serving people tarka daal but nothing about her going off to Uni to learn about conveyancing or defending the latest resident wrongly accused of murder. I'm sure Adam would tell her she's being flamin' mad - he was brought back as a dodgy lawyer, but he's pretty sensible/cautious nowadays.
Some months ago, I commented that the residents of the street talked about the internet as if it were just based in M10 rather than the web being both world and wide. But in the George storyline, we found out that there's a Weatherfield message board, where everyone posts their stuff, rather than to twitter, bluesky, instagram or tiktok. Also recently I queried a) why Mrs Doyle and Ben have different accents and b) how old Ben is supposed to be given that his eldest son looks about 10 years younger than him -and both these things have been explained. So I hope we can clear up the Alya studying conundrum soon.
