Announcing International Soap Week 2025!

From Weatherfield to Walford, Ramsay Street to the Dales, International Soap Week is set to unite fans across the globe in a week-long celebration of all things soap. Running from 7–13 July 2025, the event invites viewers to honour the unforgettable stories, characters, and cultural impact of their favourite soaps - past and present.

Whether you grew up watching Coronation Street, binged Neighbours after school, or never miss an episode of EastEnders, International Soap Week is your chance to share the love. Fans are encouraged to take part in themed daily activities and post their memories, creations, and commentary online using the hashtag #SoapWeek.

“Soaps have shaped our culture and connected communities for decades,” says Gemma Cox, organiser of International Soap Week and co-host of Conversation Street, the popular Coronation Street podcast. “This is a celebration of everything we love about soaps, from classic cliffhangers and dramatic duff-duffs to the people who watch them together every night. I also invite soap fans to use this opportunity to support and raise money for charities related to their favourite soaps and soap characters.”

Daily Themes Include:

  • Meet Me Monday (7 July) – Share your soap fandom origins and memories
  • Tony Warren Day (8 July) – Honour the creator of Coronation Street and celebrate soap legacies
  • Wicked Wednesday (9 July) – Spotlight villains, vengeful storylines and classic wrong’uns
  • Throwback Thursday (10 July) – Post iconic moments and tribute scenes
  • Foodie Friday (11 July) – Cook a soap-inspired dish (Betty’s hotpot, anyone?)
  • Fan Day (12 July) – Share your creativity: fan art, polls, quotes, costumes and more
  • Super Soap Sunday (13 July) – Throw a party or host a quiz, and celebrate the week’s highlights

Throughout the week, participants are encouraged to host watchathons, post tributes, and even fundraise or donate in honour of the power soaps have to bring people together.

A key highlight is Tony Warren Day on 8 July, commemorating the birthday of the man who created Coronation Street and helped revolutionise British TV storytelling by championing everyday working-class voices.
