Some time ago I blogged about Twitter’s love for Pat Phelan
and actor Connor McIntyre.
Us Brits love a villain and we’ve had one of the best ever in fiendish Phelan
over the past year or so . Social media has been a great way of celebrating Pat’s
evil, and Connor’s genius in playing it. It brings Corrie and their fans
together and the show has a great social media team working hard to keep us
children of the internet age engaged, even when the show isn’t on.

Now as you may know I’m not big on spoilers. One of my big
criticisms of the last producer before Kate Oates arrived was that the promos
and spoilers out in the press and on TV gave every punchline to every major
story away, and there were very few surprises left to enjoy. But Twitter has
been awash with some great photos and Tweets about the location filming that
took place this week involving some of our Corrie favourites, including Connor
McIntyre. The Manchester Evening News reports that cast and crew have been
spotted in the fishing town of Whitehaven in Cumbria, and Sue Cleaver, Corrie's Eileen Grimshaw has Tweeted about being there.
I won’t speculate what could be going on in Whitehaven, but
I’m looking forward to seeing it whenever they broadcast the scenes. What I
wanted to mention is the ever growing fandom for Connor McIntyre, who I think I’m
safe in calling a friend of The Blog. People in their droves have been flocking down to the filming locations to try and spot their favourite baddie. Some of our blogging team met Connor on the Corrie cobbles recently and he couldn’t have been more welcoming, it was like we’d all known him for years. He was busy filming that day but still took the time out to show us round and take selfies as we tried (and failed) to get some juicy Corrie secrets out of him.

It seems the love between Connor and the fans is mutual - it’s
just a shame his time on the cobbles may be coming to an end.

The actor seems to be a lovely man but I despise this character and can't wait for him to be gone!
I agree. Connor McIntyre seems like a very nice bloke indeed but I really dislike the character he plays and the things he has done and want him to get what he deserves.
Indeed,'the show has a great social media team' which works its socks off to keep fans happy and their minds off the dodgy parts of the Phelan script. In fact, the weekly episodes are a side-line these days. The real stuff happens on social media and at fan events. It's the soap equivalent of Dr Who. Next, they'll build a theme park 'Corrie World' with a ghost train of all the Corrie villains of the past sixty years. Actually, I'd pay good money for a day out there so if it really exists, please let me know.

I can totally understand why TPTB have strung the Phelan era out as long as they can. Connor McIntyre is a sensational actor. It doesn’t matter what they throw at him (or how implausible the plot lines are), he delivers a flawless performance. I hope that post-Phelan, we see a lot more of him in other roles.
As much as I dislike the character, I will definitely miss the interaction with Connor on Twitter, he has been absolutely fantastic. A true testament to what a terrific actor he is! I hope ITV/Corrie appreciate what he and several other members of the cast have done in regards to this area. There are some who won't get into any conversations and several, like Connor, who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
Ah well...too bad he has to go, but go he must. He was one of the best villains to haunt our screens in a long time. I for one, am going to miss this actor..the character...not so much.
If he is such a good actor, how come no-one had heard of him pre-Corrie?
Let’s wait and see, shall we?
I saw him in at least one other program before Corrie.
