Despite him putting the boot into beating up Jason last night, I'm still loving every minute of Sean Ward on screen as Callum Logan. He's so bad he's brilliant.
Callum is fey, a bit camp, well over the top and I love watching him on screen. I knew Jason was in for a roughing-up last night after Callum pointed his finger of doom at the lad. Poor Jason didn't stand a chance once that finger had been exposed.
Of course, it's just a matter of time before Callum gets what's coming to him and we know already that Tony beats him up. Will that be enough to scare Callum away from the Street? I hope not... not just yet.
I'd love to see Callum being taken down by someone less manly than Tony. There's got to be a fitting end to the campness of Callum and being beaten up by bad-man Tony isn't it.
In an interview with TV Times magazine some weeks ago, actor Sean Ward confessed he can't drive. He said that all the scenes of Callum pulling onto the Street in his car have to be edited well. Someone else drives the car in and out of shot, and Callum just 'appears as if by magic' getting into or out of the basking white shark on wheels. I don't know why it should, but this endears me to Callum even more, it adds to his utter pointlessness.
Callum's a joke. One that's been well played, it has to be said. But one that needs to move on and be done with.

Did you notice last night where Jason hauled him away from the wall of the house to shove him out into the street and he lifted right off his feet as if Jason really did throw him through the air a bit! I laughed and thought no wonder Callum has to have two other guys to beat up Jason! what a lightweight!
He wasn't meant to be camp. I'm sure it was just how the viewers saw this rather prissy character and the writers decided to ramp it up. Fair enough, character development's a good thing. It's a shame we didn't find out why an evidently intelligent chap should turn to drug dealing apart from the obvious financial gain. Gemma said they went to school together; she could have thrown in some information about their school days and how he didn't like being told what to do etc etc. Callum's far from comedy gold. He's been on our screens far too long and the character's now tarnished beyond repair. The best comedy villain for me was John Stape. People kept dropping dead around him but I know he wasn't to everyone's taste.
Perhaps Callum should 'come out' and reveal his true softer side.
*Loved* John Stape. I could never class him as a villain, he was just so baffled and flummoxed all the time with so much bad luck!!! Ok, he wasn't going to give Mrs. Fishwick her heart pills but he only killed her because he was covering her mouth to keep her from calling out!
I don't find Callum as bad as some do. He's not very scary, for sure. Gemma frightens me a lot more and I think she's a beltin' secondary character. The storyine itself has been a bit dull though it's speeding up now.
I think Max will give him the good kicking he deserves! :)
Make up your mind!
"Will that be enough to scare Callum away from the Street? I hope not... not just yet."
And then...
"Callum's a joke. One that's been well played, it has to be said. But one that needs to move on and be done with."
Many, many Corra fans are sick and tired of Callum and this plot line. Kill the lad off and let Max stay with the Platts.
Stephen I simply meant I don't want him to go after a beating from Tony which would be too obvious a way for him to leave. But yes, the sooner the better.
This needs to wrap up. Max isn't worth all this bother (seriously, this kid doesn't seem to care who he lives with) and it's been dragging on for months.
I suppose I could not be more polar opposite in my feelings about Callum. I see him neither as a serious character and certainly not comedy gold. He's just awful and unconvincing in any role. I'm not saying people need to be Sir Anthony Hopkins to be in Corrie. But....this poor fellow is just too difficult to watch.
