It's distressed, dark and dungeon-like. There are cactus plants on every table and on the bar too. So what does that say about the new-look Nick's Bistro? Spiky and dangerous, or just a bit naff?
Along with the slogans for life emblazoned on chalkboards around the place and some very odd props, there's also municipal baths tiling and industrial lights.
Does it all work for Coronation Street? Is it right for Nick's Bistro? What are your thoughts on the new-look Nick's?

My first thought was that I've seen several leather bars that look like that in San Francisco, Berlin etc.
My second was that the distressed look is 15 years out of date.
And my third was who wants to eat in a place where the paint appears to be peeling off the walls.
And I thought Nick said he was changing the name back, but it still said "Nick's Bistro" above the door.
Yeah it was Just Nick's as a spiteful remark to Leanne.
All a bit dark for my liking. I rather liked the old decor.
Looks too much like Beale's on Eastenders!
I much prefer the previous more simple and elegant decor.
I thought it looked like an upmarket burger place, especially with the metal chairs. Who wants to go for a romantic dinner sitting on those uncomfortable chairs?

I like it. Rustic, quirky, looks like they used reclaimed materials. There's a very popular small restaurant here that is a similar sort of look and feel and I find it very comfortable.
Hate it, drab and tatty.
Can't believe in it - I live in Manchester and you might find something like this is the Northern Quarter but in a Salford back street? I don't think so.
I don't see why they had to change it - the bistro's hardly been there that long. I liked the old décor, don't see why they had to fix something that wasn't broken.

It's exactly what it's supposed to be...every big city suburbia's take on downtown cool. Take every trend and smoosh together. It's horrid, but apt.
Better than the previous Olive Garden decor though.... :-)

I agree with C in Canada. Do restaurants especially a supposedly high-end one on a working class street change just change after a few years? Over the past few years you hear economic downturn, bankruptcy. Don't make a lot of sense.

It is way too dark. I think they did a real disservice to it. Most of the Bistro scenes seem to be filmed in front of the bar area, which before was at least bright and looked like an upscale bar in a restaurant, so you had contrast to the actors. This looks like a dark burger joint. Wasn't this style out years ago anyway? Again, they just don't get it right.

I don't mind a younger look, but it doesn't seem to have much coherence. Even with re-used materials it could have been a bit brighter and better designed, with a hit of colour. Hate to kvetch cause I know how hard the Corrie support team work. Maybe with some close-up scenes I'll see more that I like about it.

Looks like it's supposed to be Davey Jones' locker under the sea - complete with whale bone lamp shade and all!
It looks like a dark and dreary dungeon with Miss Whiplash Leanne being stern and bad tempered with everyone.
I've never understood why anyone would deliberately choose the "distressed look". It makes me feel distressed! To choose to spend my money and my time in such a location would never happen. Too bad Leanne and the rest of the staff didn't consult an interior designer who specializes in restaurants before undertaking such a change. The old decor was incoherent and tacky. This is no improvement at all. It's added depressing to that list.
It's a bit naff, to be honest. I imagine they entered into a product placement deal with The Range for this, so it was hardly likely to look high-end.
I think it looks like a cross between a prison cell and unfinished barn. I thought this was an upscale expensive place but I wouldn't come here for a special occasion.
