Simon Gregson first turned up in Coronation Street as Steve McDonald on 6th December 1989. Simon's now coming up to his 25th anniversary of working on the show and has been giving interviews to The Mirror taking about growing up in the spotlight of the show.
Simon candidly talks about his past history of drinking and drugs, and how he had to go into therapy for depression. This makes him acutely aware of what his on-screen character Steve is going through right now and he says he's determined to Steve's depression storyline justice.
Part 1 of the interview is here and Part 2 is here. Part 3 is here.

often wondered what the story was that Simon Gregson was the golden boy and yet the actor who played his twin Andy, was more or less persona non grata and got banished to work in Spain. anyone know?
He's been a very naughty boy and you have to wonder why wasnt he sacked if he had many warnings. I can only assume poor Andy must have done things much worse
I think the actor who played Andy was let go because his character was the dull, sensible, less-attractive brother and they kept the (then) heart-throb Steve.
