There's some good news for Coronation Street fans in New Zealand. Currently, New Zealand Corrie is 18 months behind UK storylines - but that's all set to change.
TV One reports that they are now showing another hour of Coronation Street every Saturday night in the foreseeable future, in an attempt to catch up with the UK.
From the TV One website: "Starting from September the 6th, you will be able to watch all your favourite Coronation Street fans on a Friday as per usual and Saturday! Each week, Coronation Street will continue to air for two hours on a
Friday night from 7.30pm, and in addition to that, 1 hour on Saturday
nights from 8.30pm. Please be aware, however, that due to our Election coverage there
will be no episode on Saturday September 20, and the episodes on Friday
September 6 and 19 will screen at the later time of 8.30.
So, prepare yourselves for more Coronation Street, and plenty more drama on the cobbles!"

18 months behind works out around 360 eps to catch up on. Showing 6 eps a week now instead of 5 will take 360 weeks to catch up if i'm not mistaken.
What about us in Australia, if you don't pay for the uk channel then you can watch it on 7mate, but it's 6years behind xxxx gurrr
6 years behind in Australia? Oh dear. How, or why, does it fall so behind? Is it a question of prioritizing Corrie in the TV schedules, or cost of buying the rights?
Sheesh!
Friends in NZ tell me they're actually 2 years behind the UK - not the 18 months the press release claims. Here in Australia, we are getting episodes just 2 weeks behind the UK - but as Mandi pointed out, that's only if you can get (and are prepared to pay for) Foxtel. The free to air episodes are some years old because they have already aired on Foxtel, so presumably the 7 network buys them much more cheaply.
I started watching up to date Corrie online. Kept watching NZ until I'd bridged the gap and now only only watch online. The downside is that my NZ friends and family aren't in sync with me (particularly difficult during the Hayley storyline) but at least I have this blog!
