There's a story in today's Sunday Mirror that reckons Kym Marsh could be welcoming her real-life fiancé Jamie Lomas to Coronation Street as the actor who will play Carla Connor's brother.
The paper says that Kym told friends: “I’m so excited. It looks like he’s getting the part.”
Rumours were circulating a very long time ago that Shameless actor David Threfall, who plays Frank Gallagher, was up for the part of Carla Connor's brother.
I don't know Jamie Lomas as I've never seen Hollyoaks but for those readers who do watch Hollyoaks, what do you think about him possibly joining Coronation Street? Any good?

Brilliant! I adore Jamie Lomas and have seen him in Hollyoaks, so I reckon he would be a wonderful addition to the cast! x

The nepotism in soaps makes me sick. More of Collinsons little mates and sycophants fawning around him. Disgraceful.
No No No. Why can we not have some fresh, unknown talent? Very soon it will be a challenge to know which soap you're watching. Isn't it about time Phil Collinson took himself and his cronies off into the sunset?
This would be a disaster. Jamie is overated, fine for a ten soap such as HollyOaks but not the street. I am finding the producers obsession with 'named' actors a real pain. I can't believe it, I know somebody that went for the audition 2 weeks ago. I think its terrible that Jamie Lomas swans back from the states after failing to make a career out there and just lands the job. What a coinsidence that his fiancee works on corrie too? Bet she had nothing to do with him getting the part?! I agree with the other comments, why not give somebody else a chance.....and besides, he looks nothing like carla conner!

If the role on offer is for the part of Carla Connors brother (younger brother to add), Surely the casting dept/exec producers would take into consideration the fact that Jamie Lomas not only looks like he's pushing 40 but has blue eyes and fair hair and, in fairness, looks naff all like this characters sister...
I entirely disagree with this move along with the other 99% of the streets viewers. I also agree with the above on the point that it is completely unfair for other unknown and, more than likely, more talented actors to get a shot at this potentially fantastic role just to have their hopes shattered by somebody else literally just walking into the role without lifting a finger!
It completely baffles me how this could ever work... So what if he played a bad guy on Hollyoaks? Signing him up for almost the exact same part on Corrie just isnt believable! AT ALL!
Note to Jamie... Good luck if you do get the part... You'll need it
