This week's Inside Soap has a chat with the Coronation Street producer, Phil Collinson, who reveals why some decisions were made and gives hints toward the future.
The Rovers - Phil says that Steve will be the owner of the Rovers for the forseeable, but there will be a new licensee, but it's not Claudia, so who is it?
On the Lewis/Audrey storyline - Phil reveals that Emmerdale and Coronation Street writers discuss storylines and one show sometimes has to drop storylines to avoid similarities, but the Lewis and Audrey storyline was deemed to be different enough from Diane Sugden's storyline with conman Charlie to go-ahead.
On Owen - Phil says that Owen won't be an out and out bad guy, and he's soon to embark on a romance with a certain character.
On the fourth death - Phil says the reason for lying about fourth main character death was to build suspense (and in my opinon, it worked) so that we were left thinking either Rita or Peter were dead.
On Dr. Carter - Matt will feature as a main part of Fiz and John's story later this year, so were going to be seeing a lot more of him.
On the Royal Wedding - Phil said the Street will be celebrating the upcoming event on screen!

Who might Owen romance? There's not many eligible women as possibilities, really. I can't see Carla being the one nor Maria. It won't be Eileen and i doubt very much Deirdre. Gail? Sally? maybe. Tracy? She'd be all over his money and as far as builders go, she's got form! Or... if Eddie leaves and Anna stays behind, it could be her!
He says we'd hopefully be rooting for them as a couple apparently, still not sure who it could be though
my vote is Anna.
Hayli
Eileen - I think things will soften and there will be a twist in the tale.
Phil Collinson loves a sharp U-turn
Coronation Street celebrating the Royal Wedding will look out of place. Hardly anyone else is. Its very disappointing that Coronation Street is backing such a non-event.
Anonyomous - hey, street parties are a big part of Salford life, especially royal occasions like this! Any excuse for a knees-up - may not be a street party but something else would be good. A non event?! Bah humbug, eh?!
@ Beth: Well, that worked years ago. I remember Deirdre & Ray hated each other when they worked together (or seemingly so) before they realised they loved one another.
Having said that, I hope you're wrong. I dislike Eileen intensely and wouldn't want her to have any more airtime than is absolutely necessary :-)
Where on earth is Pam and Bill. This is crazy as there is no mention of them and Pam is the only true relation around on the street of Baby Jack other than Kevin.
Please bring them back ASAP and with it the fabulous Corrie comedy we all miss.
The Becky storylines are just crazy now and too many characters are borning.
Let's have some fun. Get Pam and Bill to run the Rovers. Pam would be a hoot.
there was something else too!
for anyone that likes the Carla/Peter storyline...
'Will Peter and Carla ever get together? Surely they're soulmates.'
Phil answers: 'I loved the Carla and Peter storyline, and how engaged the audience became with it. It's absolutely not the end of the road for those two characters. They had such a brilliant connection - Peter became a crutch for Carla, and I think she owes him a lot.'
:D
Loved the cat fight between Liz and scary Becky.
You clearly don't live in Salford, Dolly Tubb. Applications to hold street parties have not reached double figures in any place I know of.
Perhaps you would like to explain why I am supposed to care about the marriage of two very wealthy individuals that I have never met and am never likely to.
I think there is too much bad blood now between Owen and Eileen and it wouldnt be credible. How about Julie? She is pretty desperate and it would cause problems between the two half sisters.
I love Ali King (Carla Connor from corrie)!!! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 she is amaing! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3 :) x x x
