Nigel Havers is playing the suave Lewis with aplomb and having a great time doing it. As with many actors, being on Coronation Street has been a dream come true and he'd love to have his contract extended! His contract currently goes until July so there's quite a bit of plot yet which means lots more story with Audrey and Rita so that's good. It's so nice to see them get their own story instead of being hangers on to someone else's storyline. With a rivalry between the two old friends brewing and the possibility that Lewis is just a con man out to fleece one or both of them, the next few months will be very enjoyable. What do you think? Could there be a way to keep Lewis on the screen longer?

Should Lewis stay or should he go?

If course there is! If Nigel wants to stay (which is brilliant news) then i am sure the bosses will extend. We barely know anything about him yet and if he does become established then he can always buy on the flats at Victoria Court.
Yes! I think he should stay, they could turn him into a really interesting character.
Lewis is brill - let him stay!
Yes please please do let him stay - he's playing the part with total conviction and is a kind of follow on from The Charmer from the 80s.
One of England's finest dramatic TV actors. Let him stay. please, please.
NO, The oily twerpish Lewis should be given his marching orders sharpish. I always have a bit of a problem with "famous" actors on soaps, same as with Andrew Sachs, expected him to say "que Mr Fawlty" at any moment. Although its seen as cool now for well established actors to appear on soaps when at one time they wouldnt have touched them with a bargepole, I personally feel it should be fresh unknowns that should be given the opportunities to become househouse names.
Oh now come on swamp duck! Sachs was brilliant as is Havers. They both play their parts with utter conviction. Len windass wasn't an unkown when he started, audrey was well known to Perrin and rentaghost fans. So come on, live a little!
