Betty Driver, who of course is much better known as Coronation Street's Betty Wiliams, celebrates her 89th birthday today.
Betty was born on May 20, 1920 and you can read her full biography on Corrie.net
There's even some of Betty's recordings for sale on eBay here and here.

Congrats to Betty Driver. Betty Williams or, Betty Turpin as she'll always be known to me is a true corrie great. It would be nice to see Sister Maggie Cooke back in Weatherfield. Betty never refers to her, only, 'r Gordon. Does any one know whether Maggie was ever killed off? Funny how fun characters like Blanche and Betty end up being so cynical in later years!
Happy Birthday Betty! Isn't she fabulous for 89. I see on June 2nd she celebrates 40 years on the street. What an accomplishment!! Even though we don't see her much these days, the scenes are always better when she is in them.
She is fabulous, you're both right.
