Diane Williams, my friend and blog co-editor, has died. I am in shock that she has gone, far too soon.
Diane was nicknamed Tvor which stood for The Voice of Reason - and for good reason too. With her guidance and support, she helped me run both this blog and corrie.net. She calmed me when I sent her infuriating emails about people nicking our work. She guided me when I wanted to give up the blog because my love for the show was on the wane. She offered me help and support, never criticism.
She was a Coronation Street fan through and through, a leading light in the online community. She could spot a Corrie spoiler a mile off, always ahead of the curve, guessing correctly what was to come in the show. And her insight went into her weekly blog posts here, the always well-received Corrie weekly awards.
In Canada where she lived, Diane helped run a Coronation Street fan club called The Downeast Streeters where she arranged for the cast of the show to fly out to Canada for appearances. Here she is with Marc Baylis, who played Rob Donovan in the show.
In 2015 Diane married a lovely man called Graham who moved from his beloved Salford to Canada after they were wed. Graham is a massive Dr Who fan and their wedding involved a fan mash-up of Corrie and Dr Who.
My heart goes out to Diane's husband and her family in Canada, to her friends there and here in the UK and to all those who knew her online.
The Coronation Street fan community around the world has lost one of its best.
